Gambling, alcohol and unhealthy food ads follow us everywhere we go: across social media, sport, TV and streaming, and on the street.
That’s what we want to change through ‘Give us an ad break’, which we launched alongside the Alliance for Gambling reform and the Food for Health Alliance last week.

Out now – In our new report, we detail how data-driven marketing can be particularly harmful when applied to harmful and addictive products. Common sense measures can be implemented to minismise these risks in Australia. Read more here: fare.org.au/data-driven-...

The ACT has just taken a leap forward in tackling alcohol's role in violence towards women and children.
Today, the ACT Government introduced a bill that acts on the impacts of rapid delivery of alcohol to homes.

ICYMI - Our new research shows alcohol companies disproportionately deliver alcohol to people at high risk of harm. In this brief read, we cover harms of unchecked online sale & delivery of alcohol + a current opportunity the SA gov has to address these harms fare.org.au/alcohol-deli...
A great collab with @fareaustralia.bsky.social @dgtl-culturesuq.bsky.social @georgeinstitute.bsky.social @nnniccc.bsky.social & prof Simone Pettigrew. More to come soon!
In this new research, we looked at online sale and delivery to the home for people at high-risk of harm from alcohol, including people likely experiencing alcohol dependency, impact of related advertising and community support for measures to reduce harm.
Excited to share the first results out of my ARC Early Career Industry Fellowship – starting with these timely results.
The emergence of un-checked online sale and delivery of alcohol to the home has seen an expansion in the availability of alcohol and heightened risk of harm to our community.
It is essential that regulators work to ensure the wellbeing of our community is put first when it comes to regulating the practices of companies that sell and market harmful and addictive products. Today, the ACMA has taken a step toward this vision for alcohol advertising on commercial TV.
Hearing long-held concerns of our community, the ACMA also committed to assessing current alcohol advertising restrictions for commercial TV, in particular the current loophole that allows alcohol advertisements during televised sports when they would otherwise be prohibited.
Good news story! Today the ACMA announced the decision to not register revisions the commercial TV industry proposed for the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice. This means that 800+ additional hours will not open up for alcohol ads to further flood our TVs.
Have you got a passion for campaigning, and an interest in driving alcohol policy change?
Well, we've got the perfect job for you! 👋
Our Policy and Research team is growing, and we're seeking a new Policy and Advocacy Lead: fare.org.au/careers/

Excellent editorial in the @theguardian.com yesterday
"Politicians who are serious about public health can’t ignore the rising toll of illness and death linked to drinking."

We must protect the community from misleading claims on alcohol products. We've signed an open letter urging Food Ministers to prioritise public health & request a review of a decision that will permit carb & sugar claims on alcohol labels & in advertising. alcoholchangeaus.org.au/open-letter-...
