Screw AI and all, but that statement about the effects isn’t in the article. Seems like it may just be a joke/lie picked up online.

Thanks! I’ve heard… well, let’s just say I’ve heard things about Waffle House and leave it at that!

Yeah, I’ve teleported. Tons of times, across space and time. I do it through a simple act called READING.

(Never ended up at Waffle House though 🤔)

Again, a masterpiece. Made me fall back in love with reading.

Mexican Gothic was SO atmospheric and eerie. Wish I could go back and read it again for the first time.

I may be biased, but so many of my friends in the forthcoming anthology My Friends in Hell are killing it in the indie horror sphere. Also Wendy Dalrymple and Haley Newlin are both fantastic.

People who's work has made my brain light up over the last few years: Stephen Graham Jones, Chuck Wendig, Lucy Snyder, Hailey Piper, Zoja Stage, Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant, Grady Hendrix, John Langan...

I'm still so behind on my reading list, though.

I don’t know if Silvia Moreno-Garcia considers herself a “horror writer” but her stuff is amazing and tends to the darker side of things, I think. Mexican Gothic is my second favorite book of all time, a masterpiece. Have picked up a lot of her books.

Also, Grady Hendrix haha.

I always request the latest Alma Katsu book from the library when she has a new horror novel out. Tom Deady has an amazing horror anthology series called The Rack. And Clay McLeod Chapman has some truly terrifying novels. (*cough* "Wake Up and Open Your Eyes" *cough*)

I literally maintain a list of horror authors on Bluesky that I like enough to follow. Many of them are members of #HorrorWritersChat.

Now there’s a horror anthology title haha.

Pretty much. A cosmic cosmic horror story right there. (I think it needs the two cosmics in there haha)

The new mummy movie is coming out later this week (in the U.S. anyways)

I like the explanation that when they turned on the Large Hadron Collider in 2012 or whatever, it ripped a hole in spacetime and sent us to a “bad” timeline.

As cool as time travel would be I'd probably end up setting off a cataclysmic chain of events :')

For my WIP I'm doing a ton of research. Learning about common vocabulary, reading about popular alcohol for the time... No detail is too small!

Lots and lots of research. The Tales From The Night Garden series spans over centuries (thanks, vampires), so I literally have an encyclopedia I've compiled of research notes, lore, character details, and prominent things that are happening in history around plot points.

Have done this when I wrote both my westerns. I read and saved articles and references from those eras to build my worlds and it helped a lot with the dialogue. For short stories I find I don't need a ton of info, just the right info to get my story where it needs to be. :)

Definitely time travel, like I assume all of us have access to. Might explain some of the issues with our current timeline too….
