I really need the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake to happen. Just sayin’

With all the talk about #mummies these past few days, might we entice you with a horror anthology packed with all sorts of modern-day mummy stories? 👀

Just a reminder as we head into the weekend that we’re open for submissions! Would love for all you talented horror writers to concoct a horror heist for our Don’t Go for the Vault horror anthology!

Screw AI and all, but that statement about the effects isn’t in the article. Seems like it may just be a joke/lie picked up online.
Thanks! I’ve heard… well, let’s just say I’ve heard things about Waffle House and leave it at that!
Seeing more issue with this site, so thought it would be a good time to say that we have a newsletter where you can stay up to date with all things Cat Eye Press.

Yeah, I’ve teleported. Tons of times, across space and time. I do it through a simple act called READING.
(Never ended up at Waffle House though 🤔)
Again, a masterpiece. Made me fall back in love with reading.
Thank you for the cozy questions! I would like to share that this week, @squirmbooks.bsky.social released their debut anthology. Featuring 22 horror authors writing YA body horror, including stories from @amandamblake.bsky.social @judedeluca.bsky.social & me:

Thanks for another great #HorrorWritersChat
This is your weekly reminder that all of my stuff is very good, very spooky, and absolutely free on my Ko-fi. Come on over and meet my monsters. We'll have some fun in the darkness.
Stay Spooky, everybody.

They’re haunting!
Thank you for another fun week!
It's me.... again, with my collection. It's my baby, my gross creepy mutant baby full of scary, wondrous, creepy, weird stories. And I would love more readers. Thank you!

Mexican Gothic was SO atmospheric and eerie. Wish I could go back and read it again for the first time.
Thanks for another great #HorrorWritersChat!
Just want to highlight again that Cat Eye Press is now open for submissions for Don’t Go for the Vault: a Bank Robbery Horror Anthology! It’s a paying call, and I’d love to see some stories from yall!

I may be biased, but so many of my friends in the forthcoming anthology My Friends in Hell are killing it in the indie horror sphere. Also Wendy Dalrymple and Haley Newlin are both fantastic.

@dianawallachauthor.bsky.social writes perfect YA horror
@kathleenpalm.bsky.social MG horror is fun!
Rory Powers wrote my favorite book, Wilder Girls.
@adamcesare.bsky.social Clown in a Cornfield saga is one of my favorites!

I’m hoping to read Our Share of Night this summer. Very excited to dig into it.
Yesss! There are so many good horror books coming out, that it’s hard to keep up!
People who's work has made my brain light up over the last few years: Stephen Graham Jones, Chuck Wendig, Lucy Snyder, Hailey Piper, Zoja Stage, Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant, Grady Hendrix, John Langan...
I'm still so behind on my reading list, though.

I don’t know if Silvia Moreno-Garcia considers herself a “horror writer” but her stuff is amazing and tends to the darker side of things, I think. Mexican Gothic is my second favorite book of all time, a masterpiece. Have picked up a lot of her books.
Also, Grady Hendrix haha.
I always request the latest Alma Katsu book from the library when she has a new horror novel out. Tom Deady has an amazing horror anthology series called The Rack. And Clay McLeod Chapman has some truly terrifying novels. (*cough* "Wake Up and Open Your Eyes" *cough*)

I literally maintain a list of horror authors on Bluesky that I like enough to follow. Many of them are members of #HorrorWritersChat.

Now there’s a horror anthology title haha.
Pretty much. A cosmic cosmic horror story right there. (I think it needs the two cosmics in there haha)
The new mummy movie is coming out later this week (in the U.S. anyways)
I like the explanation that when they turned on the Large Hadron Collider in 2012 or whatever, it ripped a hole in spacetime and sent us to a “bad” timeline.

As cool as time travel would be I'd probably end up setting off a cataclysmic chain of events :')
For my WIP I'm doing a ton of research. Learning about common vocabulary, reading about popular alcohol for the time... No detail is too small!

Lots and lots of research. The Tales From The Night Garden series spans over centuries (thanks, vampires), so I literally have an encyclopedia I've compiled of research notes, lore, character details, and prominent things that are happening in history around plot points.
Have done this when I wrote both my westerns. I read and saved articles and references from those eras to build my worlds and it helped a lot with the dialogue. For short stories I find I don't need a ton of info, just the right info to get my story where it needs to be. :)

Definitely time travel, like I assume all of us have access to. Might explain some of the issues with our current timeline too….
