True. For example, the best way to cook artichoke is with million degree thermonuclear plasma.
Major flaws in government arise from a fear of making radical internal changes even though a need is clearly seen.
Never underestimate the strength that “weakness” can build. Or the weakness that “strength” can lead to.
This post isn’t (just) about athletes or the disabled.
With HG freehub bodies I found they get chewed up enough to just replace the whole thing when the bearings got smoked, but with microspline that’s probably different.
Haven’t gone 12spd on my fat bike yet, it’s my last bike still rocking the XT M8000.
Supposedly the new generation ones (with the optional swappable chain-damping outer ring and higher engagement with the standard ring) fixed this.
I’ve yet to meet a freehub that’s really designed for fat bike torque and frame/wheel flex, no less snow riding specifically. Even killed a DT Big Ride, sheared the outer ring clean off.
Only one that’s held up is Hope Fatsno and it still needs a new freehub every couple yrs for the cooked bearing.

Manned launches are always nerve wracking, especially for those who understand the danger and lived through Challenger & Columbia.
But Artemis II/Integrity was worse than usual. We’ve reached the point where I just expect everything to go horribly wrong.
Thankfully the bad vibes didn’t win today.
Challenger was a big formative moment of my childhood. And the day that I was in San Francisco under Columbia’s glide path and thought “huh, that trail doesn’t look right” will always stick with me in the worst way.
Kind of feels like Challenger every damn day now so it’s hard to be optimistic.
Biiiig same. I waited until after successful booster separation to even start watching or looking at news.
The vibes have just been so bad for so long now that I expect horror, if not the actual worst case scenario, at every opportunity. 😒
Maybe naming the Artemis II Orion spacecraft “Integrity” wasn’t some kind of cultural message but it sure feels like it.
Same. I don’t entirely hate April Fools…if it’s actually funny and not just obligatory lame shit.
At some point in the mid 90s the Internet made it mandatory for everyone and every web site to post some kind of gag for clicks and it was immediately awful.
Not much of an improvement since.
Ahh yes, April 1st…my least favorite day of the year on the Internet.
I remember when this started happening at such a ridiculous level, maybe 94 or 95? Suddenly every web site had to have a gag, no matter how lame it was. And they generally haven’t gotten any better. 😒
Could we not? 🙏

It’s the code phrase Cassian uses to identify himself to the Gorman Front when he’s sent to assess if they’re serious fighters or not. Though he says “I” instead of “We.”
I was thinking “We have friends everywhere”
Look, I may have disagreed with Chuck Norris‘s politics, but that doesn’t mean I can’t also acknowledge he was an untalented actor who made shitty movies. RIP

Journalism and science ask questions. Propaganda already knows the answer.
Still orders of magnitude better than Threads, anyway. 😒
