Not saying the Mandelson thing is meaningless but I have to confess I'm not that interested in it as a story. There's a war on

IEA: Global emissions almost flat as clean tech boom eats into fossil fuel demand Energy-related emissions reached an all time high in 2025, according to latest International Energy Agency report, but peak is nearing as electrification spreads rapidly across the global economy

The global clean tech boom really is one of the biggest and most consequential economic, environmental, and geopolitical stories of the century. It remains beyond weird that it is so often treated as a second order issue at best. www.businessgreen.com/news/4528514...

Burning wood for power worse for climate than gas equivalent, report finds Research casts doubt on plans by UK government to offer subsidies for carbon capture attached to the power source

You know what would be great, and sane? If the government had got in this much trouble for covering up a report by its own defence chiefs on the catastrophic impacts of climate change for the UK. What will matter more in 20 years' time?

Bluesky has come of age because the mansplaining in my mentions has begun in earnest. It was a feature of Twitter which I joined in my 20s. I turned 41 this week and I assumed at this age it might have eased off a bit. Wishful thinking

I was a journalist for 10 years who appeared on the BBC many many times, including with Chris Mason. I don't need random men on the internet teaching me about how the BBC works

That's not what I said but way to try and weasel out of the fact that you tried to patronise me based on something you got wrong

Pretty bad that BBC news at 10 went to the Tories and Reform for comment on the Mandelson story but not Lib Dems, Greens or SNP. Either get comment from the official opposition or a spread of parties.

To be fair if I was Justin Bieber I probably would have just played YouTube videos at Coachella as well, because how is anyone supposed to headline that festival after Beyonce's Homecoming? It's almost more dignified not to try

what's the flavour of the coverage in Ireland?

sorry I should have specified I meant UK coverage

Really notable to me how comparatively little coverage there is of the fuel protests in Ireland

Why updating national grid is pushing up energy bills While the world is gripped by an energy crisis, Britain is facing another key driver of higher costs.

My colleague @susieelks.bsky.social talked to the BBC about why updating the grid is increasing bills. TLDR it's mainly inflation! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Holy smokes! An incredible start to the 'Wildfire Season' in the US this year - owing to an abnormally hot and snowless winter in some parts of the country.
