Ok on a serious note, it cannot be exaggerated how bad formalized Iranian control of the Strait is for the world. The entire global economy rests on an American guarantee of free commercial shipping. That guarantee is gone. We don’t know exactly what will happen but none of it will be good.

If the Trump administration is really going to use ground troops to "reopen the Strait" that doesn't mean Kharg - that means Qeshm.

Qeshm is twice the size of Bahrain, houses considerable strike capability, is only a few km from the mainland, and is home to almost 150k civilians.

Something I comment on here that I have not seen mentioned, is the risk Iran runs by holding the strait closed: affected states may develop a fatalism or sunk costs fallacy that drives them to escalate against Iran, however much they did not want the conflict.
