Kruder and Dorfmeister changed the way I understood and appreciated music. K&D Sessions is masterful. 25 years later they played it live...

So where did the actual social network go?
I didn't see a natural "cluster" of friends (back-to-back posts) until I had scrolled past 70 items.
The app withholds the content I actually subscribed to until I've paid an "attention tax" of 70+ algorithmic posts. No wonder I stopped scrolling. 4/4
Itβs not random; itβs a rhythm. The feed settled into a recurring 4-step loop that happened 5 separate times:
1. Friend π€
2. Suggested π€·β
3. Suggested π€·ββοΈ
4. Sponsored πΈ
It is perfectly engineered pacing to extract max attention (2 strangers + 1 ad) for the "price" of showing me 1 friend. 3/4
For the first 75% of my scroll session, the algorithm never showed me two friend posts in a row.
Not once.
Every single time I saw a friend, the very next post was guaranteed to be a Stranger or an Ad. Friends are strictly used as pacing mechanisms to pull you deeper into the feed. 2/4
I don't scroll Instagram much anymore. The signal-to-noise ratio is just too low.
To prove it, I audited my last 96 posts:
π€ Friends: 35%
π€·βπΈ Strangers/Ads: 65%
But the worst part wasn't the percentages, it was the specific "rules" the algorithm uses to hide my friends. 1/4
Man.. I remember pushing for this so hard back in the day!
I canceled Strava recently (after 7 years).
The UX on free is super annoying. Majority of the screens are filled with fake data FOMO, lots of popups and nag screens to upgrade.
It's so bad it's "almost" worth leaving entirely.

Strava suing Garmin is really hard to understand.
Strava has the most to lose here.
I'll drop Strava in a heartbeat, it's a totally optional service with a "neato" factor. I don't NEED it.
Well.. If you couldn't believe anything on the internet with social media, I think Sora2 locks in the vibes of, "don't believe anything ever" anymore.
This is one of the weirdest feeling products I've ever used ever. By a long shot.
This has been overwhelmingly relevant lately (not political at all): "Just learn how to get stuff done" www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNY4...
Kindness, professionalism, communication skills, and self-drive turn isolated desks into a community, and jobs into careers.

870W for 15 seconds. New record since using Strava.
Didn't expect that, but that feels nice. #cycling
Weekend camping... British Columbia is the most beautiful place I know.

I think I'm old enough that I need to take up fly fishing.
When's the last time you "bookmarked" a website?
My three neighbours are locked in a relentless pressure washing battle. The noise pollution and sheer waste of water is absolutely bonkers. I'm pretty sure they're trying to achieve a level of cleanliness previously unknown to humanity.
POV of the run is absolute madness. Wow. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEcy...
Jackson Goldstone won the world Elite men downhill mountain bike race! First π¨π¦ winner ever. Sick.
Too bad it's nearly impossible to watch. Good work UCI. π« Really miss the red bull coverage days, felt like the sport was on fire.
Wildfire outdoor activity has me wanting an activity style N95 mask.
Granted, I'd settle for something with far less filtration than N95 to find a balance of raw dogging the smokey air with getting enough O2 to my lungs. #cycling
iPhone 17 gonna cost more..
Gotcha Apple marketing machine, I've only seen this posted 130431 times since yesterday.
Also what DOESN'T cost more in 2025?
Running a business often feels like a full-time job of pushing paperwork to tell the government you're in business. I wish it was simpler so we could spend less time on compliance and more time creating real value. #smallbusiness #entrepreneurship #redtape
Combining my love for cycling with the world of wine, this video was a true pleasure to create with Madeline. Hope you enjoy it. 2/2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MUt...
