Most Papers Published in Guest-Edited BMJ Journal Retracted Investigation found peer review process was compromised and topics were outside journal's scope

Our Ivan Oransky "has suggested that journals pump the brakes on special issues, to which journals have responded that authors love these editions."

"I mean, bank robbers love it when you put them in the bank as a security guard, but I don't think that's a good idea."

Updated version! doi.org/10.5281/zeno...

Now with the priceless Ursula Le Guin epigraph that I had been saving but for this piece and also with a ref to @olivia.science's amazing new paper "What does 'human-centred AI' mean?", out today in Behav Sci www.mdpi.com/2076-328X/16...

Hey, look at Substack promoting Andrew Tate as the #1 new bestseller. The company's amoral leadership & backers will platform anyone, even ludicrously toxic rapists & human traffickers.

Mystic Flow Wellness Center

Closer to a 45 minute drive, but Sauna, Float, Massage, Lounge for under $250.

3 hours of relaxation, even if the place can be a little woo-woo.

Rice Alley is nearby and has some pretty decent Sushi/Rice Bowls.

Indigenous Constitutionalism - Harvard Law Review By standard accounts, there are fifty-four constitutions across the federal, state, and territorial governments of the United States. But in fact, there are 230 other governmental constitutions that currently govern peoples and territories within the United States. These constitutions not only flow from a sovereignty that existed prior to the United States but also came out of a legal movement that asserted its independence from both the U.S. Constitution and state constitutions. This Article tells the story of these constitutions — the constitutions of Native nations.

Honestly still in shock by its placement, but my article (and job talk paper), “Indigenous Constitutionalism,” is officially out in the Harvard Law Review. A brief thread on this project🧵

When it comes to writing, the process is the purpose. You don’t have to always like or enjoy the process, but if you don’t respect it enough to do it yourself, there is no purpose.

AI will never fill that void.

Grammarly shows how prototyping turned into an excuse for not thinking The industry is in the grip of directionless urgency, and users are paying the price. Strategy has been replaced with half-baked features.

Grammarly made an AI to sell shitty writing advice with famous writers' names on it.

This bullshit illustrates a trend in the tech industry: shipping features as quickly as you can write lines of code, with no way to tell if they are any good until something breaks or someone sues you.

I finally started it yesterday, and as a migraine sufferer since I was 7 or 8, the first quote immediately made me tear up. 😭

The intro was exactly what someone like me needs to hear from doctors. Great way to start this book!

Nintendo.

Most games that I'd want to get on Steam are probably better with a mouse and keyboard.

I also get the Nintendo games I want plus any ports that I generally buy over and over again like Stardew Valley and Bastion.

Vibe coding broke people's brains because they had a bad understanding of the software design process.

The pop culture model goes something like this: start out with a sketch and then render that same idea in progressively finer detail.

So when tools could "skip" to high detail, people went WOW.
