Onde? Tijuca?

something that wrinkles my brain every time I remember it is the fact that total eclipses are only possible on earth because the moon and sun appear to be the same size in our sky, due to the insanely, astronomically unlikely fluke that the moon is 400x smaller than the sun but 400x closer to us.

A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)

More context on this #Artemis II image:

* This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right

* The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon:

Inspired by npmx, I built Nugetz — a modern way to search and explore the NuGet registry.

The .NET ecosystem deserved a better UX.

Gas Town’s Agent Patterns, Design Bottlenecks, and Vibecoding at Scale On agent orchestration patterns, why design and critical thinking are the new bottlenecks, and whether we should let go of looking at code

I have Gas Town derangement syndrome and spent the last few weeks writing thousands of words on agent orchestration patterns; how they shift our bottlenecks and force us to ask whether and when we should stop looking at code

How Jennell Jaquays Evolved Dungeon Design, Part 1: Pre-Jaquays Dungeons (This is a slightly cleaned up version of my two Bluesky threads on Jennell Jaquays, preserved in a hopefully easier to read format. Thank Amanda P for reminding me that having these things stored

Rebecca Heineman's last message was for people to look up her departed partner, Jennell Jaquays.

Jaquays was so influent to tabletop RPGs that "Jaquaysing" became a verb for designing complex, non-linear dungeons.

@nickoten.bsky.social wrote a great article on her:

Nossa, achei Artemis tambĂ©m bem ruim. O Ășnico que gostei de fato dele foi The Martian. Minha sensação Ă© que todos os personagens sĂŁo iguais, rasos e insuportĂĄveis

Coxinha Although a regular coxinha is more the size and shape of a bulbous, dumpy pear, these are mini versions, like fat little figs, and you can get a fabulous 70 of these emblematically Brazilian chicken...

It’s the Sete de Setembro – Brazil’s Independence Day – so it is only right that Coxinha, the emblematically Brazilian chicken croquette, is #RecipeOfTheDay! These, though, are mini versions, much more manageable for making at home. www.nigella.com/recipes/coxi...

Why ‘Silksong’ Took Seven Years to Make The highly anticipated indie game has been in production for so long that it’s become an internet meme

BREAKING: Silksong will be out on September 4. Two weeks from today. Really.

Often, games that take 7+ years to make are plagued by mismanagement and painful burnout. But for Silksong? Team Cherry was having a blast. They still are.

This is their story: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
