As comic book printing technology matured over Aquaman’s history,I also liked the idea that Arthur got more detailed as he got older.

I couldn’t help but reference Cry for Justice and Rise of Arsenal (despite how unpopular those twists were for the character!) But I think he transcends the setback and can work wonders with the hook! Glad you like the designs regardless. 😅

We had a back-and-forth! A handful of characters were initially requested in a brief and then I added a ton more (and then we had to trim because the composition was getting a bit too crowded.) I think we arrived at a happy medium in the end.

Happy Pride! Also this is a crazy coincidence but for the palette of my image, I literally sampled some of Paulina Ganucheau’s colors for that WW Pride cover! 😁

I wish she was in it too! I had a whole list that was more than triple the number of figures you see here, including Diana! We just didn’t have enough space in the composition, and chose to prioritize some of the lesser-known characters for this image. 😅
