In a new policy with @sebastiankohl.bsky.social and @simonvoss.bsky.social, we spotlight an overlooked side of housing inequality: how living space is distributed. Both overcrowded and under-occupied homes have been rising in Germany in recent years.

(4) Sebastian Kohl, Max Steinhardt, and Simon Voss shift attention to an often-overlooked dimension of housing inequality: the distribution of living space. Overcrowding and under-occupation in the existing housing stock are rising. Policymakers should incentivize redistribution.
Happy to share that our research brief on housing space inequality in Germany will soon be published by the Progressive Politics Research Network!
This work, a collaboration with @sebastiankohl.bsky.social and @simonvoss.bsky.social , digs into who has access to space and how policy can address it.
