Nice! I have it as well. Didn’t realize it was hard to find. Enjoy.
Big congrats, man! Well deserved.
A pile of Uncertain Sons, just a lot of uncertainty and a lot of sons
Hey! It's midnight on the east coast, so it's release day. Thanks to @undertow.bsky.social for being such a fantastic publisher. Thanks to family, friends, and fellow writers for their support. The short fic grind has ups and downs, but it's a blast. Fricken love what we do. Thanks for reading.
Ok appreciate it! I’ve tried the email provided with the signup but there’s been no response for almost a week. I’ll look for another email or just wait. Fingers crossed I hear back soon and get to attend! If not I hope to take your virtual offering. Take care!
Hey, @brianmcwriter.bsky.social, sorry to bother you here. I signed up for your Horror University class in June but can’t attend in-person. Will there be a virtual option? Just want to know so I don’t hold up a spot. Thanks.
The Shadow Minister book cover: creepy shadowy guy in a formal robe holding a candelabra that gives off smoke instead of light
I'm delighted to announce the release of my new novel "The Shadow Minister", just published by Water Dragon.
A mashup of fantasy romance, police procedural, and cosmic horror set in Lutèce, a magical version of early 20th century Paris.

Sounds perfect! I look forward to reading. Thanks.
Appreciate it! What horror shorts, novellas, or novels of yours would you recommend I read if I’m looking for something fun and not so serious?
Awesome advice that I don’t usually hear! I naturally write in many genres but never saw it as a good thing with author branding. And I do need to network more. Thanks for your advice, and hope you have a great (and quick) flight!
Best advice for selling stories more consistently?

Great idea. Thanks! I’ve been checking horrortree for upcoming anthologies, but HWA and other listings are outdated. Will try this.
@sgj.bsky.social any tips for finding horror short story markets accepting submissions? You’ve published so many great stories, but it seems as if there are few markets, and existing ones have small sub windows.
Thank you, Joe! That means a lot.
Stylistic features of @joerlansdale.bsky.social ‘s that unconsciously wound up in “Victims of Habit”:
-dark humor shading a brutal situation
-dialogue-heavy prose
-fast pace
-gradually peppered backstory
-vivid metaphors
-southern dialect
I guess your work impacted me more than I realized, Joe!
Just finished Cold in July by @joerlansdale.bsky.social. At once brutal, hilarious, thoughtful & endearing, I thoroughly enjoyed it! 5/5
I wrote this crime story (mysterytribune.com/victims-of-h...) as an homage to Joe. His work has inspired me over the years, and it’s my way of giving back.
Any examples of things to include or not include in the first paragraph? Curious as to what constitutes a “yes” vs. “no” for you. Thanks!

I’ve hit that place in my writing life where rejection (or even a response email from a fiction market) no longer spikes my heart rate. Rejection is the expected norm. Send that story back out and write another one. An acceptance is a welcome surprise.

We need more cross-genre stories like this SF spy thriller. In my experience, markets for these stories tend to be few. I have a 4,700-word soft SF mystery that still needs a home. Anyone have market recs for such stories?
Happy pub day, Alex! I’ve had my eyes on this one.
Hello! I’ve never introduced myself on this platform, so…I write mostly mystery, thriller, and horror short stories and am planning my first novel. My dark humor often creeps into my writing, as it does in my newest crime story below, so if you have 4 minutes and need a laugh, check it out!
