I think these are skunk cabbage (symplocarpus foetidus). Next year I’ll look for the purple flowers that precede the foliage.

This is the time of the year when the “cabbage patch” starts to flourish. Not sure what the species is but it covers a large section of the forest floor in my local park.

Mostly nothing is pretty good, relatively speaking! Last Nov we spent 6 hours in the ER with my Mom because she tripped and fell and banged her head. It's such a slow process to get attention and complete the process when there are other people with worse issues.

I feel for you Stabby. My wife's cousin has been in the ER several times recently for issues with his stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He finally got his first round of chemo so we are all waiting to see how he handles that.
