How Email Open Tracking Quietly Took Over the Web You give up more privacy than you might think each time you open an email.

In honor of Tim Cook's stepping down, here is the story of how I emailed him, not once but twice, with open email tracking enabled, only to discover that, not once but twice, my emails to the CEO of Apple were opened on a computer running Windows.

Fairly good treatment of the (IMHO very dumb) idea of Canada joining the EU. It is important to emphasize BOTH:

a) The transition would be very costly. (e.g. 10 years of 'harmonization' of our law with the EU acquis)

b) the end point would not be good for Canada. (e.g. Euro currency, e.g. CAP)

A split bar chart of YouGov polling data with the headline: "Americans are most likely to say T. Rex is their favorite dinosaur, but many don't have a favorite."

The chart has the sub-headline: "Which of the following is your favorite dinosaur? (%)."

The chart has the note: "Note: "Other" includes responses of archaeopteryx, spinosaurus, plesiosaur, ankylosaurus, allosaurus, parasaurolophus, dilophosaurus, diplodocus, iguanadon, and pachycephalosaurus, as well as responses of "other." We know pterodactyls and plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs. Opinion about dinosaurs comes from the question, "How much do you like or dislike dinosaurs?""

A shocking new poll result: Many Americans somehow don't have a favorite dinosaur.

And only 6% give the correct answer (triceratops).

The Trump administration finds every aspect of Canada a trade irritant. Our existence is a trade irritant. I wish more news coverage reflected that reality.

Because I am a hopeless nerd, I tallied the operating budgets of all 8 governments in Waterloo Region (7 townships+the region) to look for a # this op-ed disguised as reporting should have. Folks: council remuneration makes up *0.1%* of total local operating budgets. Literally, a rounding error.

AI deployment is at the heart of Carney's economic policy and his government cutbacks. The problem is structural. Firing a minister or civil servant won't make much of a difference in the long run.
The government needs to abandon its current AI policies or we can expect more bad outcomes like this.

The federal government *dramatically overcompensated* for abuse by some colleges in international student visas, and now Canada's long-term prosperity and its university systems both get to suffer unnecessarily as a result.
