Equally "staggering" that Starmer's only halfway coherent pitch to the public, 300 years ago, was probity & integrity

I'm on a long break and away from social media,so this is late. But at Select magazine, I sat opposite Andrew Perry, watched him take time to inspirationally work with new writers & marvelled at how much he knew & loved abt (excellent) music, evangelically. This was who he was, and it's a rarity now

Revealed: DfE's secret plan to cut special school expansion Councils will be given top marks by the government if their SEND reform proposals include “little to no” plans to increase special school capacity

DfE's secret plan to cut special school expansion: Yes, Schools must be more inclusive, but it’s utopia to think real-world mainstream can cater for so many needs, or that LAs won’t cut provision to match guidelines not need. And a “Trust” run by whom? schoolsweek.co.uk/revealed-d...

Life with my autistic sons: ‘How do you explain all the worries, the sleepless nights?’ When James Hunt began posting about his boys online, it was a way to describe the emotions and experiences of their extraordinary lives. In sharing his family’s joy and struggles, he realised they wer...

Really interesting interview with James Hunt, father of two autistic sons. I hadn't come across him before, but my daughter says she's been following him on Insta for ages! Thank you, @johnharris1969.bsky.social

Strange. You'd think that the British people would be persuaded by such compelling arguments as 'we don't have a plan for regime change but a friend of a friend does' or 'Keir Starmer smells!'

"Jews don't belong in American society."

Imagine a sitting member of Congress tweeting that. You can't. Thankfully, it'd never happen. And *if* it did, it'd be the end of their career and the biggest story in America.

But Ogles can say this about Muslims without any censure.

Recruiting teaching assistants harder than hiring teachers, according to school leaders - NFER Our latest research into the education workforce has shown that three in four school leaders are struggling to recruit teaching assistants (TAs).

New Nuffield research make stark reading for the DfE as it aims to cram more SEND children into mainstream schools: The study shows 3 in 4 school leaders are struggling to recruit teaching assistants, saying it’s harder to recruit TAs than it is teachers www.nfer.ac.uk/press-release...

These days I find that I can't be bothered
To argue with them, well, what's the point?
Better to take your shots and drop down dead
Then they send you home in a pine overcoat
With a letter to your mum
Saying, 'Find enclosed one son,
One medal and a note to say we won'

I had a front row seat at the Blur v Oasis frenzy – here’s what a new play gets bang on and bafflingly wrong In 1995, the bands tussled for No 1 – and the Britpop crown. Our writer was on the inside of the mad-for-it contest. Does The Battle accurately capture this divisive moment? And what was Noel’s proble...
