Nice, Sir - I recently did an exploration of different launch and my students support your results.🫡
(Always good stuff, Sir 😎)

Education is indeed a social activity where knowledge is built (brain connections created) not just facts transferred.
I think your comment on Khan’s talents is accurate.
I think what makes me an effective physics instructor (my own evaluation 😊) is that I always try to remember the struggle.
Poster of the Voyager satellite: “Since 1977 the hits just keep on coming.”
Launched the summer I graduated high school. I have a Voyager poster in my classroom. (this one 👇)
I miss my chalkboards.🫤
Just gave my colored Hagoromo to the art department - at least they can use it.
He asks a very good question.
My hypothesis: the tax prep companies lobby heavily to not change a thing.🤔
Well played.😎
“She says there’s been more enthusiasm for the product among administrators than teachers in her school.”
When the history of EdTech in US K12 is written, this will be the theme.😉
Exactly.
The ppl at College Board make much of their “non-profit*” status like they’re the Sisters of Charity, but their leadership makes bank.
The leadership has a VERY vested interest in bringing in the cash.
*CB is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit ), tax exempt.
10 years ago, worked at a really good school that banned phones at anytime.
Got new principal that didn’t want the fight & chucked policy because “kids need to learn to self-regulate.”
Within 24 hours, the entire school culture changed. Went from a happy buzz between classes, to absolute silence.🫤
Ed speak buzzword.🫡
Ahhh, AP Trevor…if you’re compelled to write they are, they are not.
(Exhibit A: review last year’s results vs results five years ago 😳)
Yet another reason to dislike Bezos.🫤
A real enlightened humanitarian. 😉
Ahhh...too true. 🙃
I’m quizzing twice a week in all my classes now.
Low stakes, 5-7 minutes.
Don’t quiz on whole assignment, just enough to get a good look.
At AAPT summer meeting last year, a session I attended was presented by college instructor discussing progress w/small group instruction.
…until Spring 2025.
When asked about drop off, she said: “That’s when the students used AI on HW. Midterm/final came, the found out they didn’t know anything.”🫤
Good question, Sir.
Personally, I don’t think it was a deliberate philosophy as much as “that’s how things were done” - how they grew up.
In the summer (1960s), my mom would toss us out of the house after breakfast, and we were on our own until dinner. We’d get about 50 cents each to find lunch.🫡
"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."
Daaang…I way beat these toads.🫡
Nicely done, Sir.
If I may add one practice that I think ties to the five you identify:
Never take the pencil out of the student’s hand.
I heard that at a workshop, and it really stuck with me. There’s goodness in productive struggle that we squash if we’re too ready with an answer.
Peace!
Everyone involved in supporting him / looking the other way should wake up every morning wondering “is today going to be the day?”
Never relent. Never forgive. Pursue like they were a nazi concentration camp officer in 1945. Forever.
I think all of the above should be in the classroom more often.
I went through a traditional teacher cert and almost off of my instructors hadn’t taught a HS class in 10+ years.🫤
Right on, Sir.
At my first modeling workshop (2014), we were introduced to on-by statements & I’ve been using them since. (I use the construct of “on the feeler, by the dealer”)
Really does help eliminate fictitious forces. Good stuff!🫡
Exactly 😉
She accepted nothing less than our absolute best.
I still tell my students about Ms. Popelarz and her impact on me (she was my teacher almost 50 years ago).
Ms. Mary Lou Popelarz, my 11th / 12th grade English teacher.
Uncompromising standards, made us all better.
“I put as much work in reviewing your paper as you did writing it.”(returning a paper with no marks)
“Turn it back in when you’ve put some actual effort into it.”

Not so tough to do: just canceled my Netflix.🫡🇺🇸
Democracy more important than profits.
We - the royal we - have made college admissions mostly a game vs some measure of preparation for actual college.🫤
I remain totally perplexed by their absolute silence through NCLB and then RTT as well.🫤
My view: every enabler / participant in epstein’s crimes needs to be hunted down and prosecuted like a nazi in 1945…through today.
No forgetting, no forgiveness.🫡
They can no longer stay ahead of their sad record.
