Oof, yeah. Why coudln't D2D take a fee from authors who actually earn money? Why take it from people who hardly earn anything? That feels backwards.

I'm so sorry this has happened 🫂 This isn't fair to a lot of us indies at all. I hope you can find another option to keep going with this.

Yeah, I feel it's a lot of indie publishing houses and privileged authors with a reader base already calling for the boycott. Those of us who are struggling are seeing the reality.

'Bezos is evil & Amazon is evil so it shouldn't be supported.' I get it but like, literally no one is going to put a dent in Amazon/Bezos. People are just hurting poor authors in the end & aren't really thinking clearly. People have a right to choose where their money goes, but this was misguided.

When you boycott authors on Amazon, you are literally just hurting authors. You are taking money out of the hands of indies like me. You're not hurting Amazon. You're not sticking it to Bezos. You're hurting US.

All I know is, the writing/reading community likes to yell an awful lot about what we should or should not do, but they don't stop to think of who they're cutting out or silencing. They don't realize this whole capitalist hell is just eating us alive while they're screaming at us.

Abandoning us when we're at the mercy of this capitalist hell is abandoning many disabled, queer, and other marginalized authors, who generally do not make as much money or are living in poverty. Not happy with where we sell our books? You HAVE to support us elsewhere or you lose that option. Period

Can we talk for a minute? Everyone saying to 'stop supporting authors on KDP,' consider: KDP does not charge fees like D2D now does to just have your book up. KDP will be the affordable option for people like me, who are disabled and poor. Please still buy books from indies on Amazon.

Yeah, it's tragic. I wasn't really seeing sales after people poked at me to go wide, so since I'm not getting wide support, the fee isn't worth it and I'll just have to hope people don't stop supporting me because I'll only be on Amazon.

I'm so sorry. If you can afford an extra $12 a year, it might be worth it, but then you have that $20 sign up fee. It's criminal.

I truly hope you're not just going to auto-charge people without permission for your new fee. You can't just set up a fee for already struggling authors & then take what you want from us. This is utter BS. You already get money from our sales. Now you want to take more? People are going to leave.

I'm frustrated because people were up in arms about going wide and saying fuck KDP, and then literally no one went and supported authors wide. So now this is going to cause indies to not go wide at all and give you less options. You have to support us elsewhere if you want us to BE elsewhere.

This is utter BS. They're punishing authors who are struggling to even make enough to cash out with their payout limit. So basically, I'll never make money with D2D. I'll never see a cent because no one buys my books wide. I might just stop going wide for now because I can't afford another bill.

I love them both 🥰 Their 'Beauty and the Beast' episode is my all time favorite, honestly.

All of this end of the world talk is triggering PTSD psychosis hard 🫠 It's a long story why it does, but I'm def avoiding all social media today. Notifications off. Safety bubble engaged so I don't spiral. Everything's awful. Acknowledged. Now I'm going to eat ice cream & cuddle with my sweetheart.

But yeah what I saw was a post trump made about ending Iran, not the world. Which is still fucked and terrifying, but not that the world is gonna end.

I read that in the news but no mention of nukes anywhere, in a few different sources. I really hope this is a case of social media blowing things out of proportion for panic, because I'd think if it was that serious it'd be in the news somewhere.
