Vanessa Da Costa is a public health data consultant. She is the Founder, CEO, and Principal Consultant of Chilombo Consulting. Chilombo Consulting provides human and equity-centered data strategy, collection, cleaning, analysis, visualization, and evaluation services to organizations looking to make sense of their quantitative and qualitative data. Her primary interest is in collaborating to promote data transparency, literacy, storytelling, and use in the areas of public health, workforce development, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Her previous experience includes working in the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Global Health and at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in South Africa. In these roles she led data analysis, visualization, and strategic data communication deliverables for President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)-funded programs. She also served as a Peace Corps Community Health Volunteer in Rwanda, and in research roles at the Rwanda Zambia HIV Research Group, Georgia Emerging Infections Program, Duke Global Health Institute, and at other organizations. Vanessa is also passionate about sharing and curating resources to help professionals elevate their public health careers, which she does through the Instagram and LinkedIn platform she co-founded: Public Health Resources. Vanessa graduated from Emory University Rollins School of Public Health with a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Global Epidemiology and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology and a minor in African Studies.
