I keep it contained into a single message. That gives them to chance to choose what to focus in on. Breaking up the two pieces into separate messages can just be frustrating for the reader lol

For me, I try to always have something like this. I think it's mainly about acknowledging that the person I am communicating with is human, and the conversation does not simply need to be a quick business transaction. It's a signal to them that if they want to speak about themselves, they can!
