Honestly? Both.

The look matters, but it does shape how you see and shoot. That creeps in whether we admit it or not.

I tend toward HP5+ and T-Max 100 for B&W, and Ektachrome or Portra 160 for colour. Different stocks, different moods.

For me it’s about accepting what exposing a frame of film is—a different process, constraints, and relationship to the image.

If you like how it looks, that’s enough.

The constant film vs digital comparison gets tiring. It’s not zero-sum, just different ways of working.

I "discovered" the band in 1986 when my younger brother told me about a song, "Without or Without You" he heard on the radio. I listened, then immediately bought the Joshua Tree album along with Unforgettable Fire and every prior album. All were on heavy rotation. So now you can guess my age. 😁

I love this EP. The guitar tone feels purposeful again, not just atmospheric filler, and the songwriting has that older U2 tension; less polished, more honest. It feels like they remembered what made them dangerous in the first place.

Long-time U2 fan here—mid-80s onward, multiple shows, the whole arc. I get why people say the recent output hasn’t hit the same, but I think that’s partly because they’ve been searching rather than repeating themselves.
