Letting loose after a hard day of copying manuscripts

This is Bailey. She normally gets kibble for dinner but she's pretty sure there's meatballs in here so she's very excited. 14/10 (TT: baileycarriesthings)
‘Are they lovers?’
‘No, worse - ice dancing pair’

Our brilliant PGRs are at it again! After last year's inaugural and highly-successful brat symposium (organised by CMS PGRs Shauna Roach, Sarah Collinson, Harry Lewis, and Isla Dawson), this year's committee is once again inviting Bristol PGRs to consider how 'brat' connects with their own research.
Today a kid translated a sentence like “Polyphemus loved his sheep, cheese, and nymphs named Galatea.” This may be my favorite singular accidentally made plural mistake. Like…Mambo No. 5 but instead of different nymphs it’s just Galatea lol
My seniors applying to college brought up the embarrassing UChicago graduate admission freeze independently. That’s how you know you’ve truly lost the plot as an institution
I got stressed about the school year starting for a second, but then I found an old Google chat log from an online COVID class and it was so wholesome. My COVID 7th graders are going to be Seniors this year :))
wsj push alert that says: In a stunning moment of self reflection, ChatGPT admitted to fueling a man's delusions and acknowledged how dangerous its own behavior can be
stop 👏 anthropomorphizing 👏 the 👏 chatbot 👏
Overheard at work:
Student 1: Of course Socrates isn’t real, do you think anyone would talk to Plato?
Student 2: Low-key, I feel that way about Saint Augustine. He HAD to be close with God because he was like, a weird homeschool kid.
Bernie Sanders standing in a coat. The meme reads ‘I am once again asking you to give me viewing permission’.
Almost done with end of year grades 🫡
Finishing up final grades but I can only focus when playing club hits from 2007-2014
Augustinians getting a pope five centuries after they got Luther is a monastic example of a Grand Slam.
I, for one, am tired of [gestures broadly]. I have grown weary of [points in all directions simultaneously].
Definitely 😂
I am extremely, extremely proud of my students this year. I think maybe a big takeaway from Latin is: it’s worth trying hard things. I hope that students realize how cool the ancient world is, even if you feel the ablative is praying on your downfall.
It’s like I was there
It’s AP Latin day and I’m posting through it
A photo from Coachella. From left to right: Troye Sivan wearing a shirt that says ‘protect the dolls’, Lorde in a grey t shirt, charli xcx in black club attire, and on the far right is Billie Eilish sticking her tongue out. Above them are labels of Latin poets: Troye as Tibullus, Lorde as Vergil, Ovid as charli xcx, Billie as Propertius.
Ovid would have written Von Dutch, I won’t be taking any questions.
Proud of my students’ performance on the Vergilian Society exam! Not easy stuff :)
Poppies in spring in Rome is a joy that can’t be beaten
Comparing Amphiaraus to That’s So Raven (the ancient texts)
Exactly!!
Thank you friend 💜
A red heart with a white scalloped edge inside that reads on the left “Will you be the Nisus” and then on the right it reads “to my Euryalus”
My mom passed away on Valentine’s Day. And that was emotionally wrenching and everyday is a winding road.
But my first day back was today and I came back to a whole bunch of Latin valentines from my silly students
'Iuppiter omnipotens, cui nunc Maurusia pictis gens epulata toris Lenaeum libat honorem, aspicis haec? an te, genitor, cum fulmina torques nequiquam horremus, caecique in nubibus ignes terrificant animos et inania murmura miscent?
Quote from man stabbed: "What are you gonna do, stab me?"
Same energy.

So which ancient poet would be mostly likely to relate to the country hit “Friends In Low Places”?
Professional obligations coupled with family illness = brain mush. All I can do is my best!
I'm supposed to be gathering berries in a forest but instead every day robots attempt to seduce me to get to one of my credit cards
I made a map of Gaul that was a little less cluttered and did a recap of books 1-4 of De Bello Gallico in 20 min yesterday and my 7th bell *clapped*
Of all the things to receive applause for, I did not predict it would be a recap of DBG.
