Enjoyed Jim Jarmusch’s latest film, the rather low-key ‘Father Mother Sister Brother’. Features some great performances not least from Tom Waits. Three stand alone pieces about the relationships between parents, their adult children and siblings. Oh, and ‘Bob’s your uncle’.
Pay attention, class. The Beatles as art house cinema. Lots of events like this to come... to go with my new BFI Film Classics @bloomsburymedia.bsky.social book on their first film A Hard Day's Night.. All latest updates here for talks and book signings: samiraahmed.blog/upcoming/
Morning Des. Not sure that dog is observing the Green Cross Code.
ICYMI my latest ‘Hanging Out a Window’ column reflects on a personal solution to the ‘inscription conundrum’. Read and subscribe (free) here: johnearls.substack.com/p/better-loo...
Yup. The doctor himself.
Alexis Korner also features on this where the cast also includes Ringo Starr, Steve Marriott, Jim Keltner, Mac Rebennack and Rick Wright.
Cheers Des. Hope you had a good break. Here’s to you and yours. I’ll try my best to do my best.
Sláinte!
Remembering Alexis Korner born OTD in 1928 (died in January 1984).
I saw him play The Marquee in 1983 where his band included Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Ruby Turner.
Great work Chris. Well done. 👏 👏👏

Cheers Des. All the best.
A wedding engagement (not mine) keeps me from being at the Vale for today’s @wealdstonefc.bsky.social game against Scunthorpe. But here’s something for Stones fans to be getting on with - picture taken at Northwick Park tube station en route. UTS!

Morning Des. My local record shop in the 1980s (Discoveries in Wealdstone) was not just a place to buy records but to hang out and catch the up on the latest. Would probably now be called a ‘cultural hub’.
Thank you Chris. My copy of ‘Move Over Darling’ awaits the treatment.
A moment of delight in a dirty old world.
