A good quality daily notebook with an attached pen.

This is a thing I get a new one at start of every year and use it as my daily note taking book. I usually try to get good quality ones. As a gift, I think people may use it in daily and may be reminded of you :)

Comic. [Person sitting at desk with laptop with machine labeled E-21 making “click click” noises on the floor behind] VOICE FROM LAPTOP: Hey all! Does your E-21 humidifier make an annoying clicking noise? Mine did, but I finally figured out that there’s an easy fix, so I made this video in case anyone else… PERSON AT DESK: Oh my god. Yes. *Yes.* [caption] I know there’s more important work in the world, but I feel like these people deserve, at minimum a statue.

A centuries-old kebab tells the story of the richness of Lucknow’s Awadhi food When cooks couldn’t shape individual kebabs for enormous groups of people, they came up with a solution: a kebab that is a paste.

#Lucknow is now recognised by #UNESCO as a Creative City of Gastronomy. scroll.in/magazine/929...

Revisit this piece by Priyali Prakash on one of Lucknow's special delicacies, the majlisi kebab or ghutwa kebab.

... the test would not stop even if one or more of the assertion fails. It may still be following power law distribution, but the distribution looks certain different how it used to me for my code few years back.

At a personal level, a bit of change has happened for this part. Till I was not aware of assertAll capability of JUnit5, I used to have minimal assertions in my tests so that I know thing failed my tests. But now I have observed myself asserting of more items per test since I am sure that ...

One interesting outcome of AI agents being so fast at prototyping:

It can take longer to have a meeting about building a prototype than to build it!

So... why not just build it, then show it and talk about it?

Prototypes are the most powerfully tool I know of for increasing the productivity of conversations about what software should do and how it should work

They're tools for thinking

Writing is thinking as we all know.

AI has definitely helped to me to improve my writing process where I also include couple of through away PoCs in it.

Cannot agree more !

I am trying out this approach in real for my projects now. Previously, the feedback loops with my stakeholders were large and now with PoC becoming disposable, I can quickly show around what I aim to achieve with my project and then iteratively proceed towards the final design.

Was yet to explore the world of Java in 2007. But started with Eclipse in 2009 and transitioned to Intellij in 2017.

Now it’s mostly Intellij with Cursor now and then.

We think Java would 100% be Ross Geller from Friends.
He’s reliable, if a bit verbose, and he’s been around forever. He may not be the flashiest in the room, but he's solid, knows his stuff, and has a lot of history.

Out of curiosity, have you created any LLM assistant for regular assistance where you have pre-feed these or you use some other approach?

Starting in February I'm going to start a (free) new live coding series where I build a handful of these apps with a recent college graduate that works with me.

I think it will be a great tutorial for people who want to learn aspects of engineering you don't get in school. #staytuned

While we’re banning books…

Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar.
