We need candidates who are not afraid of big tech and who are running on specifics. That’s why I’m supporting @seligmanforag.bsky.social, a lawyer who’s actually taken on corporate power and who has specific plans on how to use the power of the office he is running for to help working people.

Attacking civilian infrastructure is a war crime. Our President is threatening war crimes and the result will be the US being more entrenched in an unjustified war that will kill thousands of innocent people and wreck the global economy.

Denver Already Rejected One Surveillance Company: Don't Make the Same Mistake Twice The mayor is asking city council to sign a contract with Axon Enterprises, which has even deeper ties to federal immigration enforcement than Flock does.

Rep. @javiermabrey.bsky.social lays it out in @westword.com:

"Denver’s tax dollars should not flow to companies whose business model depends on the surveillance and deportation of our neighbors...We do not need Flock, Axon or any company like them in Denver. Our community is safer without them."

Big money from corporations and secret donors has corrupted our elections and eroded confidence in government. We don’t have to wait for the Supreme Court to overturn Citizens United— Colorado can lead.
It’s time to put people back in charge of our democracy. @javiermabrey.bsky.social

Clean campaign pledges in democratic primaries are designed to benefit the candidates who are aligned with the oligarchs. We have to reject the politics of big money, small ideas and generic platitudes. Our economy is broken for the working class and policies that tinker around the edges won’t work

Antifa means anti fascist. People who get so angry when that term is used or when someone calls themselves Antifa need to ask themselves if it’s because they are pro fascist.

5/ But David and Towards Justice didn’t stop there. They also worked with Rep. @javiermabrey.bsky.social to pass a law, House Bill 1380, forcing Colorado hospitals to always identify themselves by name when they sue their patients for medical debts.

If you are running for office at any level right now and you aren’t speaking up about Trump’s mass deportation efforts and obvious human rights violations but you claim you will “stand up to Trump” or “Fight Trump” when you win I don’t believe you at all.

Reminder to my fellow Dems, this is who we are up against! Stop buying into corporate backed polls presented by lobbyists that say voters want “bipartisanship.” Voters want us to fight to make their lives better, they don’t care how we get it done. Let’s stop elevating bullies.

Dems can’t expect voters to trust us to be on the right side of anything if we can’t speak out against genocide & weaponized starvation. How can we ask anyone to support us to stand for any vulnerable people if we can’t support a vote to stop arming the government causing this?

It would be really cool if either of the two major candidates running for Colorado Governor would say that they supported expanding collective bargaining in Colorado by signing the Worker Protection Act. Seems like an easy ask in a Dem primary 👀

Colorado House gives initial OK to bill that would ease union formation despite veto threat • Colorado Newsline The Colorado House gave preliminary approval to a bill that would eliminate a unique second union election requirement in the state.

I am thrilled that Reps. @javiermabrey.bsky.social and Bacon are set to send the Worker Protection Act to Gov. Polis's desk. Please encourage the Gov. to stand with Colorado workers. (SB25-005) | #copolitics @govofco.bsky.social coloradonewsline.com/2025/05/05/c...

Pope Francis’ advocacy for migrants & the poor highlighted the central tenants of my faith, that we should all do everything in our power to make this world better for the most vulnerable. He made the world a better and we will be worse off without his voice on the global stage.

A photo of Pope Francis and a dove.

Pope Francis was a compassionate man who centered the dignity & humanity of all people.

He practiced his faith in word and deed until the very end.

I thank God for the blessing of his life, and I mourn his loss alongside all people of faith and conscience.

This is the most direct affront to the rule of law in modern history, they are telling us they can disappear us if we dissent. Would be really great to hear anyone in the Colorado Congregational delegation say anything about this or Abrego Garcia.

The next Governor should fight to make child care free. Aspen is home to one hundred billionaires and Colorado has some of the most expensive real estate in the world. We can solve this problem.

If you’re running for office right now, be specific about what you stand for. Every politician is generically concerned with affordability and every democrat is talking about the rule of law. Be specific, this isn’t the time for platitudes.

Your landlord can raise your r…" There is a narrative going around in this building that we over regulate landlords. It’s ridiculous. Your landlord can raise your rent by as much as they want year over year and evictions are at all time highs. I am proud to stand with Coloradans who cannot afford to own their homes as the scratch tooth and nail to survive, the people living pay check to pay check. If you are working class in this country you live seven years less than everyone else. If you have been in the business of being a landlord in colorado for years and years and years and you are talking about getting out now because we are trying to do the bare minimum to help the people living pay check to pay check, congratulations because your pay out when you sell will be massive. Since 2000, home values in Colorado have seen significant appreciation, with Colorado seeing a 329% return on investment. If you have multiple properties you will be a millionaire and when you sell you cant take the property with you so it will be back on the market and increase the supply of housing for sale. I am not saying that landlords are bad, I am not attacking landlords, I am just saying, you can charge want you want and evict a renter behind on their rent easily. When you are a landlord, that is typically a bonus, meaning the vast vast majority of landlords have another job that brings in the income that they live on. And that is ok, I agree that those investments should be protected, you should be able to recover your property from renters who break the rules destroy the property or fall behind in the rent. But there should also be basic protections, these are homes for people who cannot afford to own. I know we all got sent a green book outlining the law in this space in Colorado and it’s a nice prop but I am proud of what is in that book. Legal standards outlining that homes should be safe and habitable, free of mold and bed bugs, with functioning plumbing and heat. I hear every year of renters who pay full rent for years in homes without functioning heat in the winter or infested with bed bugs, we need a few pages of law protecting people like that.

If you watch one thing today, check @javiermabrey.bsky.social talk about the real people served by housing protections.

Our bill to ban the use of algorithms to price fix in the rental market passed the House!

A recent study by the White House showed that use of this technology lead rents to inflate by $1600 a year. I’m proud we are standing up to end the use of this software.

Not to be a wide-eyed naïf about such things but... am I right in thinking that they levelled an entire building to get to one guy and *that* is not controversial to anyone in the American media or political class, only that this information was recklessly shared in an unsecured chat?

Landlords are doing fine. The bills in this space this year are incredibly modist, if we cave on making it slightly easier for poor people to find new housing what are we even doing?

There is a narrative going around the capitol that we over regulate landlords in Co. It’s ridiculous. Your landlord can raise your rent by as much as they want and evictions are at all time highs. We should be on the side of those who can’t afford to own, the people living paycheck to paycheck.

Bernie and AOC just packed civic center park with more than 25k eager to fight back against the oligarchy. Meanwhile, this week, in the capitol across the park legislators who are supposed to be on the side of working people gut bills that seek to help the poor find housing and to end junk fees.
