My take on UnitedHealthcare CEO’s murder: he hired the gunman to effectively commit suicide and get his family a massive life insurance settlement. Based on no insider information, just a hunch—but in case it bears out I wanted to put it out there.

As I end a work trip having interviewed all the people I set out to interview, I marvel at how much of this job is just dumb luck.

I got to pet goats today, so that was pretty awesome.

My wife and I were talking about things we may have mastered in life. I was surprised both of us could only think of a couple. We defined "mastered" as hard things we now do effortlessly and which we could teach a class on with no preparation. One of hers: parallel parking. What have you mastered?

A moka pot—because Keurig coffee, the only option at many Airbnbs, is undrinkable. Admittedly, this is less a concern internationally—but domestically it’s a must-have for me.

I definitely forget to ask stuff sometimes too, but this one was actually a confession that I rushed. I didn’t spend enough time building rapport, and the person shut down.
