The Express will keep doing this.
Churning out anger and division.
They donโt take a day off, even on Christmas Day.
But this Christmas Iโm inviting you to choose something different:
Humanity. Kindness. Hope.

Festive political graphic with a green background and Christmas decorations around the edges. At the top, text reads โBradford District Green Party.โ On the left is Nigel Farage styled as Ebenezer Scrooge in a black top hat, laughing, and on the right Zack Polanski dressed as Santa Claus with a white beard and red hat, leaning forward. Between them is a mock newspaper front page with the headline: โSanta would vote Green and Scrooge would go for Reform, poll finds.โ At the bottom, a green banner reads โjoin.greenparty.org.uk.โ

Palestine Action-linked hunger strikers โmay die without Lammyโs interventionโ
Justice secretary criticised for refusing to meet lawyers who say health of their jailed clients is โrapidly deterioratingโ
I am desperately worried for 20 yr old Qesser Zuhrah who is dangerously ill at HMP Bronzefield. It remains very unclear how soon she will be transferred to hospital.
Qesser is on day 46 of hunger strike. It should not take this long to get the help she needs.

British politics is a mess. Food, energy, housing are all too expensive. Major parties are all flogging the dead horse of trickle down. So Iโm joining the Green Party. Britain needs an economy that works for workers, for small businesses, and future generations. @greenparty.org.uk

UK politics: Polanski claims Green support surging in London as five Labour councillors defect in Brent โ as it happened
Party leader says Labour โhas abandoned any sense of progressive politicsโ
People have had enough of Labour.
They can change leader but the problem is the hundreds of corporate lobbyists who are Labour MPs.
More and more people joining the Green Party every day!

We are writing to express our concern about eight prisoners who took action in solidarity with Palestine in August 2024. Amu Gib, Qesser Zuhrah, Heba Muraisi, Jon Cink, Teuta Hoxha, Kamran Ahmed, Muhammad Umer Khalid and Lewie Chiaramello are all being held on remand: none has been convicted. They are all on hunger strike, some since 2 November, in protest at their prolonged pre-trial imprisonment, censorship of communications and alleged mistreatment in custody.
We share concerns about the length of time they have been detained without trial. Some of the protestors have already been imprisoned for over a year and we note the assessment by UN human rights experts that terrorism powers were misused to circumvent normal legal protections. We are also worried by reports about their treatment and support the call on you made in EDM 2386 to intervene urgently to ensure their treatment is humane and their human rights are upheld.
Will you:
ensure the hunger strikers are not denied clinical monitoring or hospital access;
instigate an immediate review of the remand/bail decisions in these cases;
confirm that counter terror powers are not being misapplied to protest activity.
These protestors must also be guaranteed their right to a fair trial โ the decision since their arrest to proscribe Palestine Action puts this seriously at risk. We would like to know what measures you are putting in place to ensure such a vital cornerstone of our justice system is upheld, in relation to the charges brought against these specific prisoners and more broadly in relation to offences committed by others acting in solidarity with Palestine.
We urge you to meet with the families and loved ones of the prisoners on hunger strike โ we understand you have not responded yet to representations they have made, and trust you will be open to hearing from them directly about the conditions and treatment suffered.
Extremely worried for the awful situation of the Palestine Action activists on hunger strike.
Still awaiting trial, some for over a year.
Green MPs and peers have written to David Lammy, calling for urgent action and fair treatment.

Another prisoner, Qesser (20), has dangerously low BP + high heart rate, blocked from hospital care

Greens deputy Mothin Ali to visit hunger strikers in prison
Green deputy Mothin Ali's visit to the anti-genocide hunger strikers in prison shows he's willing to do what the establishment won't
@mothinali.bsky.social is visiting the hunger strikers who are being politically punished, held in appalling conditions and have a right to a fair and just trial.

@zackpolanski.bsky.social on taxing the rich: "This is about inequality. For decades now poor people have got poorer and rich people have got richer... the money [raised] is important but the real point is about tackling inequality.. we need to get those assets flowing around the economy"
