The proposal is not presriptive and more work needs to be done to make it a reality, but the idea as far as I am concerned would be to charge non residents for general tours (Belfast City Hall charges Β£6 per adult) and also more bespoke experiences (twilight tours, weddings etc.)
I could bore anyone on this! I think the legislation that supposedly prevents us doing this could be challenged but there's reluctance to put that to the test.

Thanks, that's kind. We're not all awful self-serving careerists!
My son has a different rare genetic disease so I have some sense of the additional challenges that poses for navigating 'the system'.
The SHA grant is a tiny amount in the scheme of things but makes a big difference.
I'm so sorry to hear that. My friend cared for her mum for many years.
Write to all those in the list from SHA. Encourage as many people as possible to speak up. I am speaking to a journalist this week, if you would like to do that also.
PS: i dig your thing on here btw.
It was voted as part of the budget in March. I didn't vote for the budget but a majority of the board did. I brought a motion to reverse it in June which resulted in a 7-7 tied vote but there was a subsequent ruling that my motion was not competent. It is a shitshow.
I think it's awful. I have been trying incredibly hard to have this decision reversed, working very closely with the Scottish Huntington's Association. Would be very happy to discuss directly.

Can make the words 'shower' and 'shit' out of their name. How apt.
Never buy the Herald.
I'm really pleased Glasgow City Council is taking the lead on restoring the lost tenements at Albert Cross in Pollokshields. There's a long way to go but this is a really positive step for the local community.
Graphic headed "Workers will have say on Visitor Levy not just big business"
Glasgow's Visitor Levy Forum will have both community and worker voices on it after Green amendments were agreed unanimously today.
This will help balance the voices of big business and ensure that investment priorities focus on people who live and work in Glasgow too.

Newspaper article headlined Major Update on Albert Drive collapsed tenement
Really positive news for Pollokshields. The Council is launching a design contest for the reinstatement of the historic Albert Cross tenements. This is just the first step but it signals a real commitment to getting this done.

Well done to Cllr Tollemache in helping oust the Tory/Lab Council, & instead offer a progressive alternative π
Looking forward to his work as Transport & Net Zero Convenor in fighting for public ownership of buses, & community-owned renewables βοΈ

βAn ill-conceived and under-funded regeneration scheme isn't the way for Labour to show they are proud of Glasgow. Engaging seriously with the absolute biggest challenges we face is.β
Proposing Green amendment to Labour's celebration of the Pride in Place funding, @jonmolyneux.bsky.social highlights we are facing deep challenges such as in housing & homelessness, and that the UK Government ought to engage with the Council on these now. β

Today is Full Council - here's a thread on what your Councillor group is doing today π
I'm guilty of that, though still hope most of my decisions are hinged. Also, today may be the day I address that guilt.
A statement from the Glasgow Green Councillor Group π "The Green councillor group is saddened by the decision of a number of friends and colleagues to stand down from the party. We respect their decision and wish them well. We will work constructively with all parties who share progressive and eco-socialist values. That has always been a huge part of how Greens do politics. We are and have always been a group of socialist councillors and are hugely proud of the difference we're making. Greens have led the city's opposition to the Gaza genocide, we've delivered urgent climate action, declared Glasgow a feminist invested in our communities. Increased access to community halls, libraries and swimming pools, free school meals, and investment in cleansing workers have all been secured because of Green councillors - and we will keep fighting for fairer funding to reverse the effects of austerity on our communities. Our focus and energies will remain on delivering as much positive change, with the powers available to us as councillors, for the city and our local communities." #
