Bars in Washington, DC had been struggling since Covid. So why are the city’s Democrats so eager to get rid of Pete Hegseth, Kash Patel, and Jeanine Pirro?
Melania Trump is Contrapoints's Goofy.
i saw a tiktok about how writing fanfiction in childhood is a sign of gifted kid burnout and i can't stop thinking about it
up-and-coming urban designers, take note.
I’m sure this is unrelated to the fact that last month data workers revealed they were asked by Meta to review video from Meta Ray Bans of user’s intimate moments like having sex or using the bathroom.
if you aren’t a bot don’t mark your account as automated. it’s bad data, and there are other ways to accessorize your account!

"Magataotao" on Twitter writes: "I am Catholic. This👇is not my Pope." Attached is a video of the Pope saying that we should search for peace and reject war. A community note under their tweet says: "You are not a Catholic if you do not accept the Pope, but rather a schismatic. Canon 751: “Schism is the refusal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff,” ie. the Pope. https://www.vatican.va/archive/cod-iuris-canonici/eng/documents/cic_lib3-cann747-755_en.html"
first in my bloodline to see someone get excommunicated by a community note
"Ozone hole" in grant descriptions by year, with two regression lines over a scatter plot
Bergogram plot: line plot of money awarded by year by NSF. 2025 and 2026 trail other years
Table of grants by US academic semester by state. In Spring 2026, New York has received 37 grants in total, Florida only 24
Word cloud of words in "formicidae" grants at NSF. "Ants" is most promient, also "species," "specimens," "project," and "collections."
Inspired by @jeremymberg.bsky.social & grant-witness.us, I've updated my rnsf #rstats package to include:
• Cache of public data on every #NSF grant (>500K)
• Info on every #GRFP
Tools for viz, examples of use, etc.

the woman who was speaking with him didn’t even bring up formal verification as a security tool, it genuinely made me want to claw my eyes out as someone who’s trying to get into programming language theory research. what am i even doing this for if the security normies dgaf???
the problem is Hank doesn’t find the time to engage with computer science by means other than metaphor which inevitably results in him repeating simplified ideas without also delivering the necessary caveats. people interested in marketing ai encourage this mistake in him. miscommunication en masse.
i genuinely had to turn off the mythos video on account of the agonizing cringe… ‘so the AI will invent its own programming language?’ NO, HANK! it has no training data for a language that doesn’t yet exist!
@hankgreen.bsky.social before covering anything related to ai again, i ask that you PLEASE complete the course Artificial Intelligence available on MIT OpenCourseWare: ocw.mit.edu/courses/6-03...
I’m always saying this

some companies have very good proprietary solutions, which i guess makes it a solved problem in the strict sense. but… is it *really* solved until there’s a FOSS option with >90% accuracy?
for the record, the problem is lightweight parsing of mathematical formulae (and other 2D symbolic languages) from online handwriting samples.
