It’s spring here and I’m spending a lot of time outside getting the yard ready for planting my garden, which means less knitting and more sore, tired and cranky evenings. I’m not sure who coined the phrase 70 is the new 50, but they were full of cr@p. I’m a little farther on my second mitt.

Incredible day of 30+ species on my bird walk this morning, this time with a local birding club.

The picture of the day is this gorgeous tree swallow who was nesting nearby, we had to go around it, and so I got a beautiful shot :)

Today, President Barack Obama and I read to a group of toddlers at Learning Through Play Pre-K Center in the South Bronx. 

In between singing wheels on the bus, we discussed our administration’s vision for this City — one where New York’s Cutest have the strongest start possible.

Child: Mayor.
