Palantir put out the most cartoonishly evil statement possible. They’re so arrogant and self-confident they don’t seem to believe their fascistic plans can be opposed.
We must get rid of Palantir altogether.

Just in general, femme-presenting kidlets, older man in the industry taking an interest in you / wanting to “mentor” you: consider why he doesn’t have any friends his own damn age

I'm a data scientist @ourworldindata.org and I need help from a botanist or someone local to Kyoto, Japan! 🌸
We present one of the world’s longest climate records: 1,200 years of peak cherry blossom dates in Kyoto.
The researcher who maintained it, Prof. Yasuyuki Aono, sadly passed away last year.
Just imagine you have to support a child on this type of money
www.ons.gov.uk/employmentan... "Median pay in January 2026 for London as a whole was £3,031 [pm]." I think, depending on the borough, they pay roughly median, but I support your point! if you look at what it costs to live here, this is a ridiculous (sadly not out of the norm) salary.
i mean, diagnoses are dropped or criteria changed in editions of diagnostic manuals, so thinking there is some type of ground truth can be tricky. in a way, you can say if a diagnosis is useful to getting the patient effective help, it is "correct"

I am not sure whether it is mentioned in the review and I overlooked it - a lot of focus is now on self-diagnosing but I suspect that the lay-person diagnosing of other people is also common and detrimental (and might potentially increase with awareness campaigns).
A fantastic review by @lucyfoulkes.bsky.social et al. Highlights the difficulty of properly assessing these questions and the role of potential nocebo and expectation effects, providing an interesting link to the work we do @sfb.

We recently warned of bots in online behavioral research. @achetverikov.bsky.social showed there is no evidence for that in our @joinprolific.bsky.social data - but that doesn't mean we're safe. Agentic AI can do behavioral tasks through prompting alone. Reply & videos: osf.io/3cztr/overview
if his son wants drugs, realistically, he can buy them really easily. if his son then gets addicted, which is a serious health problem, and he gets caught with drugs, this is then a criminal issue.
