Siberian Pipits (Anthus japonicus) are rare in Israel and are typically a lovely “by-product” of wader ringing sessions. Last week we had our fourth individual of 2025. Additionally, to other waders, eight Temminck’s Stints visited our table, one of which was a recapture from the previous year.

For the past 10 years, I have been researching at Hefer Wetland, studying snipes and crakes. Oct. and Nov. represent the peak months for data collection and intensive ringing sessions. Lovely past days in the mud, spent with Jack and Common Snipes, Spotted, Little and Baillon's Crakes.
