I'm so sorry, Kate. I live with one of the same family of conditions & some days walking from my house to my car is a marathon. But I do know people who've come back from ME/CFS/PEM, even if it's been a long slow process. I so hope you're one of them ❤️

I wondered if Belgium still has a monarchy and WTF, it does. If I was a descendent of Leopold I'd have changed my name & left the country.

Also, when I googled to check got this 🤦🏽‍♀️

I'd forgotten that along with everything else. Definitely high on the ICK scale 😬

Sad, because I still love Terminator 1, adore Aliens, respect T2, & can't believe that The Abyss didn't get more love. I still have scenes from the Abyss etched in my mind even though I haven't seen it this century.

And a not insignificant proportion of Americans still want him to have a third term...🤦🏽‍♀️

Everyone left is at the mall or big box stores for the post-Christmas sales - I had to go to a Warehouse yesterday & half of town was there

That said, critics whom I respect have been awed by the imaginative & immersive visuals of the 2nd and 3rd movies even while acknowledging the clunky elements.

Also, you almost certainly know someone who's worked on the Avatar movies!

I saw the first one, I love good fantasy and had great hopes - but by the time I got home I'd literally forgotten everything but one (visually beautiful, non plot related) scene, the deeply cringe "love" scene, and the blank space where Sam Worthington's lead performance should've been.

Don't forget he was ALSO having an 'affair' with a much younger staffer - while being married. When did he even get time to eat and sleep, let alone do the job he was being paid the big bucks for?

Sending virtual hugs. Hope you have the support you deserve to ride this particular wave of grief and find a quiet patch on the other side for a while.

PM Seymour, I assume, aided by his business buddies.

Tho TBH the most repellent thing was Sock Puppet PM implying we should adopt the wonderful American model of 2 weeks' holiday max - which I'll bet never applied to him when he lived in the US

Grassl really surprising a lot of people! Do you think he's got more yet to deliver at the Olympics?

YES! (fist pumps from her bed). I hope Megan gets every damn cent out of that sock puppet.

(Actually, 'sock puppet' is an insult to Lamb Chop)

That's interesting! And makes sense given their relationship. But (and I admit I haven't read 'Caves of Steel' or 'Roads Will Roll' for decades) it's the Caves descriptions of the strips that are still vivid in my mind & would have provided a good quote.

And they want us women to bloody vote for them. Do they not get that we still have the vote?

We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

There are absolutely beautiful and evocative sections! And the overall narrative is really powerful. I just think I'm like other readers in finding it hard to engage with most of the characters.

Came here to say this! Yes, there's a great section where Lije shows Daneel the robot how to 'run the strips', jumping from the slowest moving walkways to the faster ones then back again.
I can't BELIEVE the 99PI team missed it 😳

Definitely a Tolkien Swiftie, but not so much a Silmarillion Swiftie despite having scraped together the money to pre-order the book as a broke college student in 1977. Bits I enjoy the heck out of, bits of it are...in need of an editor? Full of beautiful poetry though

She has to know she's deep in a style rut when apparently the only way she/her stylist can think of to punk up any of her recent Chanel outfits is by giving her greasy limp hair, right?....right?

I've only just now been listening to a podcast on pre-Civil War presidents, and the parallel was impossible to deny - their weakness and vacillation, the complete misreading of what the slaveholders wanted 😢
