Today, the White House Press Secretary told the country that this ridiculous damn ballroom is “the president’s main priority”…not reopening the government, not lowering the cost of groceries, not lowering the cost of housing, not lowering the cost of healthcare….building a ballroom

SHE RULES FROM THE BENCH: I grant the plaintiffs motion for a second TRO based on reasons stated in previous order...
Wyden, the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, says Democrats will raise a point of order to strip the Medicaid ban on gender-affirming care in OBBB: "this is a private choice for adults. It should belong to them."
The budget is a statement of values. The budget is policy. This budget is awful.
Get you some co-mayors who wave the trans flag while blowing kisses and dance like nobody's watching with the rainbow one

“This bill is so terrible that it has stained the very soul of our party, but, sure, I’ll vote for it.” - Josh Hawley
hi, cis folks!
the GOP put the all-ages trans medicaid ban back in the budget, despite it being struck. they did it to force dems to challenge it on the floor.
if you've been paying attention, you know dems need to hear you want them to actually stand up to the GOP. contact info at reps.fyi 🧵
The key theme is not any judicial philosophy. The Roberts majority doesn’t use any consistently. The key theme is aggressive quick action against those who try to enforce the laws and Constitution on Trump. And extreme passivity on Trump’s illegal actions. It’s an anti-anti-Trump court.
*Biden tries to forgive student loans*
SCOTUS: Whoa there, that is, uh, a major question. Which means you can't do it.
*Trump revokes part of the constitution*
SCOTUS: Obviously, we got to give the President the benefit of the doubt on this one.
A radical Christian just murdered the speaker of a state house but the real worry is the theocratic muslim who said the bus should be cheaper
She took half a million dollars from AIPAC 2019-2024 and isn't up for reelection until 2030, people must be absolutely HAMMERING her phones for her to retreat on this lol
[Insert Anne Frank quote]
This times a thousand, and it's messed up how a political assassination just kind of fell out of the news right away.
The ADL fired 22 people, all who worked on issues like civil rights for other communities.
This is part of larger changes:
1. Ending its anti-bias training, which focused on other forms of bigotry.
2. Removing 134 pages from the site that educated on issues like trans identity & white privilege
I’m so sorry to every single person who has given their life’s work - time, tears, talent - to the admirable climate efforts at NOAA. The work is important and will continue, and I will grieve this loss.
“power concedes nothing without a demand, frederick douglass taught us that,” says deborah mcdowell, a professor here since 1987. we must do everything in our power to resist this, “authoritarians are never satisfied. they are greedy.”
another speaker on the steps clarifies that as much as people may love & support jim ryan, “this is not about jim, this is about inappropriate interference in the process.” crowd now chanting “hands off UVA”
the uva faculty senate asks the board of visitors to condemn the demands from the DOJ that led to ryan’s resignation & asks for a meeting with the BOV to clarify the situation
The @nytimes.com only reported, in surprise, on what was happening at UVA last night & today the president is already out. This delay in reporting Trump's & Vance's attacks on higher ed more broadly, including public universities, is due to the @nytimes.com' monomaniacal focus on the Ivy League.
I have seen Jim's resignation letter and I still do not believe that him resigning will do anything to protect anybody else's job (I appreciate that he sees things differently). Columbia has not gotten their grants back. There is no proof they won't just keep punishing UVA.
Told a reporter we will need collective action in the days ahead at UVA and that the reality is, it will likely require the famous alums stepping up. They don't care about a lil Black girl from the 757. But people like Katie will matter more.
Today’s resignation by UVA president due to DOJ pressure should be understood amid yesterday’s creation by Southern states of their own higher education accreditation agency. Both seek to wield power against the independence of universities.
Congress of the United States House of Representatives @lashington, Z€ 20515-4205 June 26, 2025 The Honorable Pam Bondi Attorney General U.S. Department of Justice 950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20530 Dear Attorney General Bondi, I write to request that the Department of Justice open an investigation into whether Zohran Kwame Mamdani, currently a candidate for Mayor of New York City, should be subject to denaturalization proceedings under 8 U.S.C. § 1451(a) on the grounds that he may have procured U.S. citizenship through willful misrepresentation or concealment of material support for terrorism. According to public reports, including a June 21, 2025 New York Post article, Mr. Mamdani expressed open solidarity with individuals convicted of terrorism-related offenses prior to becoming a U.S. citizen.' Specifically, he rapped: "Free the Holy Land Five / My guys." The Holy Land Foundation was convicted in 2008 for providing material support to Hamas, a designated foreign terrorist organization. Publicly praising the Foundation's convicted leadership as "my guys" raises serious concerns about whether Mr. Mamdani held affiliations or sympathies he failed to disclose during the naturalization process. While I understand that some may raise First Amendment concerns about taking legal action based on expressive conduct, such as rap lyrics, speech alone does not preclude accountability where it reasonably suggests underlying conduct relevant to eligibility for naturalization. If an individual publicly glorifies a group convicted of financing terrorism, it is entirely appropriate for federal authorities to inquire whether that individual engaged in non-public forms of support-such as organizational affiliation, fundraising, or advocacy-that would have required disclosure on Form N-400 or during a naturalization interview. Moreover, Mr. Mamdani has recently refused opportunities to reject the pro-terrorist rallying cry to "globalize the intifada"— a call to expand …
expressions of admiration for individuals convicted of supporting terrorism, a troubling pattern emerges that warrants formal scrutiny. The naturalization process depends on the good-faith disclosure of any affiliation with, or support for, groups that threaten U.S. national security. If Mr. Mamdani concealed relevant associations, that concealment may constitute a material misrepresentation sufficient to support denaturalization under federal law. The federal government must uphold public trust by ensuring that citizenship is not granted under false pretenses. I respectfully urge the Department of Justice to determine whether Mr. Mamdani's conduct prior to naturalization warrants formal review under applicable law. Sincerely, Andy Ogles Member of Congress
The letter Rep. Ogles posted to Twitter outlining why he thinks Mamdani should be deported, including the claim that, “Mamdani has recently refused opportunities to reject the pro-terrorist rallying cry to ‘globalize the intifada’”:
