The quarter is all wrapped!

As of today I finished making revisions to my epic door post-critique and am really pleased with the final results. This marks the end of my first quarter as part of SCAD's ITGM Grad program!

It's been such a challenging and exciting ten weeks!

I almost forgot! I also have @pkustka.bsky.social to thank for a lot of this. She is an incredible designer, concept artist, and modeler- PLEASE CHECK HER OUT!! She is responsible for a lot in here- my favorites being the spellbook/lectern and the wand! <3

I think implementing custom hand models is when a VR game REALLY starts to feel like a VR game... #indiegame #gamedev

My epic door cinematic is getting a lot closer to finish!
There's some small bugs to work out here and there and plenty of small details to refine, but I was able to get most of the set dressing and camera shots in there so I feel good about finishing everything on time.

I spent the back half of this week figuring out a modular control rig for the unbroken chain and extending the length of the animation so I have more footage for my cinematic!
Next I'll be working on a block out of my environment and some basic camera shots.

Today I imported my door and drawbridge to Unreal and got to animating!
I'm using an event trigger to simulate physics on the chains, it's a bit finicky and overdramatic but I managed to get a solid foundation going.
I'll be updating with textures and more animation progress soon!

Started the modeling the frames of the door and drawbridge, I'm working in Maya for this part of the assignment!
Next I'm going to start working on the chains of the drawbridge before diving into the magic door itself.

Got started on my final assignment of the quarter—an epic door!
My door is inspired by WoW and Star Stable’s stylized game art, I’d love to hand paint my assets for the project.
The sequence starts with a drawbridge which is worn and weathered, revealing the pristine magic door underneath.

Some more progress on my interactive scene (watch with sound on!)
I've added set dressing to make the scene feel more complete, and am slowly implementing functionality to each of the props. Still lots of sound design and lighting to add as I go, but I think it's turning out really fun!

I got started with some of the actions I'd like to pursue in my blueprint toy project--I'm making a scene of children's toys that have a light/dark mode. In light mode things will be physically bright and conceptually innocent, in dark mode, things go off the rails! Having fun so far!

Spent this week blending materials and setting the environment's atmosphere! I think it's really starting to come together, just need to nail down my interior, add some sound and button up any remaining details.

This week I kicked off set dressing! I'm running into some issues importing from Fab today-so I focused on getting some grass and snow clumps added to the landscape foliage.
Definitely lots of work to go to make it all look cohesive but I'm excited!

First Dev Log of the quarter!

Finished blocking out my set dressing project and excited to start filling it out with assets. I'd like it to be a snowy, mountainous scene complete with a thicker tree line and a distant mountain range outside of the area I'm focusing on dressing.
