i wonder if i'll ever be able to face this castle....
they called it avengers endgame because marvel was out of money and bet it all on one last movie. little did they know it'd become a hit franchise
for a very long time i've named my player character object oChar and it hits different now that i've seen gundam
undecided on whether to stick with the soulful tile based scrolling.... it's a little more readable with background dimming
the game maker ui workflow definitely works better if you make your sprites in the built-in sprite editor, but i increasingly prefer using aseprite and that adds extra tedious importing steps. i think i messed with an aseprite auto-importer a long while ago but it felt kind of clunky
getting annoyed with having to make separate "sprites" in the game maker ui for every single animation, instead of having big spritesheets and defining animations in code.... i feel like it's finally time to go custom engine but i don't have the motivation to do all the groundwork right meow
it's really difficult to make a turtle with a mounted gun on its back, but i have to do it....
soon i will have no choice but to actually do level design

these are good i played the first three.... little stories like episodes of a show.... i think this "episodic gaming" concept could really take off !
it's so hard to create anything without getting tired, maybe i'll go play anthology of the killer
anyways i'm trying to make a little crowd of background characters that sees off the protagonist at the start of the first stage and it's so hard and slow....
for most of development, the npc sprites were made using a system i copied from arrow of light i think, which just pieces together randomly selected hair and clothes sprites on top of a base body and assigns them random colors
something that is hard for me is designing a lot of characters.... for clockwork calamity in mushroom world i made like 50ish unique npc designs, but that was towards the end when i had already written their dialogue, quests etc. and i could use that for inspiration when drawing the sprites
i played ibara for like 2 seconds, even with the purple outlined bullets you can't see shit in that game huh. yagawa remains goated
3:4 aspect ratio like a vertical shmup would be good too, close quarters beatdowns only and you can make everyone really tall

i don't play fighting games but i think they should make them ultrawide, i want to tune in to the big street fighter 7 tournament and see fireballs taking 3 seconds to cross the screen
