i think it is cool that the president of the united states routinely slurs black people as biological inferior

Jay Bhattacharya has ordered that a paper showing the effectiveness of COVID19 vaccines in preventing severe disease and hospitalization be suppressed and hidden.

This man has been crying nonstop about political censorship for 6 years.

But he’s the one who is actually doing it.

That Japanese cartoon trying to compare and contrast D vs R (and getting it somewhat wrong) always gets me thinking

IMO you underrate how good not having a very cold winter is. Also not having a very hot, humid summer.

I've lived in Philadelphia, Columbus OH, and Montreal and I prefer Seattle's weather.

There is maybe 2-3 months of the year that is better outside CA in the rest of the country.

yeah i'm not counting on it - but its not impossible either

He probably is!

hmm interesting

that said, I preferred him because of his age and physical tools. Has the chance to be Havertz, but with more goals.

Also I don't think Sesko wanted to play for us. I think he wanted to go to Utd.

Yeah, also, how many signings don't really come good until the 2nd season or at least late in the first?

Eze and Zubimendi have shown me enough to suggest they could both be great next year.

I'm old enough to remember when White, Havertz, Merino, etc. were considered flops.

we just have to beat Atleti and then its a bit of a coin flip. I'd favor Bayern or PSG over us, but we are close enough to either of them that we have a very good chance in a one-off game on a neutral site.

yeah I wonder to what extent Trump's success with minorities was driven by non-conservative minority voters not voting.

what gives me some hope is I'm starting to see a team playing well again. Not surprising given people returning from injury etc. But we can now see how this team got to where they currently are agian.

yeah thats true according to Capology. City's wage bill is like 300million and ours is like 235 million (Liverpool and Utd are at about 225 million too).

3 days ago 1 0 0 0

yeah could be. Think he was prioritizing the CL a bit too.

3 days ago 0 0 0 0

Thinking about the CL too in particular.

We need to beat Atleti over two games, which we absolutely can and probably should do.

Then its just winning one game in a neutral site against Bayern or PSG. Both outstanding teams, but it only takes a bit of luck at that point.

But if we stick with something like today, particularly with Odegaard back and hopefully Saka and Timber soon too, we still are in things. We become a very good team again.

We haven't been, but we now have the personnel we need to play at our level.

I feel like Arteta almost threw the Bournemouth game last week by choosing that lineup with Havertz in MF. If he plays Trossard and Eze from the start I think we win that game and this loss doesn't matter nearly as much.

3 days ago 2 0 2 0

I actually thought the team's form actually against Sporting when we brought on Havertz, Trossard, and Jesus. That continued on today with a similar lineup.

The bottom line is Gyokeres is not good enough and shouldn't start - we lose so much in overall play with him vs. Havertz.

Strangely somewhat optimistc after today. I assumed we are going to lose but that was a credible performance that we easily could have gotten something from.

If we don't win the league, we will all know why. It happened before today.

Once you get past those guys, Rice, and Timber, you're looking more at 30 million and less (assuming we don't sell Eze or Zubimendi, who I think we would get more for).

3 days ago 0 0 0 0

those are the guys who get you that kind of fee. Maybe Gabriel. I think you get over 100million for either Saliba or Saka. Both would be risky to sell though obviously.

Not impossible City drop points. Even a single draw where they outshoot Everton 28 to 3 and Moyes terror balls a 1-1 or 1-0.

3 days ago 4 0 2 0

what sales this summer though? We definitely have players with big value -- Odegaard, Gabriel, Saliba, Saka, maybe Havertz. I don't want to sell any of them but I wouldn't totally rule it out. Rice is for me the only untouchable in this core.

3 days ago 1 0 1 0

Even in attack we have, its just more mixed.

Odegaard, Havertz good signings for me. Eze could still well turn out to be a big hit too, although still mixed. Could argue Merino too (although thats a bit fuzzy given where he plays often).

then why are we so much better than we were in 2018? Why are we outperforming our wage bill in terms of league position?

Its either recruitment or coaching/tactics. Something has to be going right.

3 days ago 1 0 1 0

but why should we expect a replacement for Arteta to improve us? Its a huge gamble. I think it is considerably more likely we get worse.

Us consistently finishing 2nd is outperforming our resources. Sure, if we can hire Pep. But hiring even a good replacement likely isn't enough.

Nah, just Jesus and Zinchenko, both of whom were key in us levelling up in 2022-23.
