Good thread!
I feel like I'm pretty good with percentages, but they still trip me up if I'm not careful. "If this Steam game is supposed to be 70% off its $30 price, why is it still so expensive at $9?!? ... Oh, right."

Good, important thread. Please don't be a jerk.
... why?

listen hun if you can't handle the Washington Post editorial board at their the Texas gerrymander "freakout" is "not a threat to democracy" you don't deserve them at their "Virginia plunges America deeper into the gerrymandering abyss"

Discovered an odd quirk with Bluesky today . . . as best as I can tell, you can't link Wikipedia articles (or, I suspect, ANY article) with an exclamation point in the URL.
Try to link to the Wikipedia page for the 1980 movie Airplane! or the 1986 TV series Sledge Hammer! and see what I mean…
It was clearly about the beloved two-season comedy SLEDGE HAMMER! from 1986 starring David Rasche.
This may be — no joke — one of the more-insightful gags as far as true personal development.
I've developed several skills to the point where I realize I'm REALLY BAD at them. I'm glad I honed those abilities, but recognizing my own likely limitations lets me channel my efforts more fruitfully.

Gamers! My pal Ross Isaacs — former Star Trek RPG developer for Last Unicorn and Decipher — is still facing horrible health issues and is in danger of having his phone and electricity shut off. He's also been forced to cancel essential medical procedures.

"Reduce rate limits"? So they're letting them do MORE, and that's bad?
Freedom is only a hop away. Can he make it?
Game Designer Ross Isaacs (Last Unicorn’s STAR TREK rpg, and much more) is in desperate straits.
PLEASE join me in helping a great guy out!
Even simply spreading the word can help!
Can you hand me the Spice and Preservative, please?
Did you want Spice or Preservative?
Like, compared to elaborate sets, strange camera setups, clever tricks of light and perspective, skilled stunt people, and practical make-up, everything feels so much less impressive on all levels to have my brain go "every shot it basically just a Pixar cartoon."
Tangential to the point of this (good) thread, but something I realized after last year's movie-a-day project is how =less= magical movies are in the CGI era.
Watching pre-2000 movies was a constant jaw-drop of "How did they DO that?!?"
The answer to that Q in most post-2000 flicks was "CGI."
Cripes, I miss this leadership energy with a yearning that makes my heart crumple like a crash-test dummy.

A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.
In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."
Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!

(The discussion on Superman's costume is about 25 minutes in on Bob's video... but the whole thing is fantastic and worth a watch, IMO.)
Interesting Facebook Reel from author Jason Pargin "Why does Superman dress like this?" begins: "Here's a very obvious question… I bet most of you cannot answer."
And I COULD answer because it's part of @bobchipman.bsky.social's excellent REALLY THAT BAD: BATMAN V SUPERMAN vid: youtu.be/F9juReoJxI0
