North Carolina's second land-based wind farm opens for business in Chowan County Timbermill Wind in Chowan County includes 45 turbines spread out across more than 6,000 acres. The project is expected to produce clean energy and provide an economic boom to the region.

Duke Energy says it’s reviewing the lawsuit. In a statement, the company says it’s “committed to its customers and will continue working to deliver reliable and increasingly clean energy while keeping rates as low as possible.”

In other news, the town of Carrboro is suing Duke Energy for allegedly leading a nationwide “deception scheme” against climate change. Mayor Foushee and the town council are holding a press conference now

Clean water advocates, citizens urge officials to pass proposed groundwater standards for 3 PFAS There are three groundwater standards for PFAS under consideration. Public comment overwhelmingly supports the proposed regulations, but is also pushing for more action.

On the other hand, private citizens are asking state environmental officials to pass the proposed regulations. Clean water advocates agree, but add that these 3 groundwater standards alone are not enough

A representative from the Fayetteville Public Works Commission spoke against adopting the regulations, arguing federal drinking water standards are already stringent enough
