Duke Energy says it’s reviewing the lawsuit. In a statement, the company says it’s “committed to its customers and will continue working to deliver reliable and increasingly clean energy while keeping rates as low as possible.”
In other news, the town of Carrboro is suing Duke Energy for allegedly leading a nationwide “deception scheme” against climate change. Mayor Foushee and the town council are holding a press conference now
On the other hand, private citizens are asking state environmental officials to pass the proposed regulations. Clean water advocates agree, but add that these 3 groundwater standards alone are not enough
A representative from the Fayetteville Public Works Commission spoke against adopting the regulations, arguing federal drinking water standards are already stringent enough
Public hearing is now underway in Raleigh. There’s about a dozen people here to comment about proposed groundwater PFAS regulations
Public hearings on proposed PFAS groundwater standards continue today in Wilmington, starting at 6 pm. The final hearing is tomorrow in Raleigh. I’ll be there tomorrow and will bring y’all updates then
I’ll admit; I’ve never been this invested in a Panthers game before 😳

This part of the article especially sticks out to me. The whitewashed version of the history of Thanksgiving perpetuates the oppression and erasure of our Native brothers and sisters. Let’s remember we live on stolen land. Let’s remember to honor our Native communities today (and everyday)
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone eats delicious food today and enjoys time with loved ones.
At the same time, let’s take **several** moments to remember the true, painful history of this holiday. www.smithsonianmag.com/history/than...
Not Colin posting my own story before me 🤣 thanks for the shoutout! and check out my latest story below!

Tonight state environment officials are holding the first public hearing re proposed groundwater standards for 3 PFAS. The meeting tonight is in Charlotte. Public hearings will also be held in Wilmington & Raleigh in early Dec. More info from DEQ here: www.deq.nc.gov/news/press-r...
Busy day at the NC Leg. Republicans moved to strip even more power from the governor, a Democrat, by moving the Board of Elections appointments to the state Auditor's office - an incoming Republican. That would mean board of elections will have 3 Repubs and 2 Dems instead of the other way around
A few weeks ago I visited western NC and spoke to farmers - specifically apple farmers - about how they’re recovering after Helene. The story aired on Here & Now last week. Listen here! www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2...
