Weβve reached the last day of #Migraine & Headache Disorders Awareness Month. But for those of us living with these conditions we work for recognition and needed change every single day! #MigraineAwareness

A lavender background with the purple and teal Shades for Migraine logo, which features purple sunglasses with teal lenses. Purple text reads: June 21, 2025 Wear a pair show you care. Today we wear our Shades for Migraine to raise awareness, combat stigma, and show support for all people living with migraine, including ourselves. Harper Robinson and Diana Lee People with migraine A photo of my daughter Harper and I outside, both wearing purple sunglasses accompanies the text. Harper is a 10-year-old girl with brown hair and light brown skin. I, Diana, am a middle aged white woman with blonde hair. Weβre both smiling.
Wear a pair, show you care. π Today we wear Shades for Migraine as a visible symbol of this largely invisible disease.
Canβt wait to see your photos!

I've got a "believe us" x "accommodate us" example for you... When someone asks for a fragrance free option (e.g. at a hair salon when picking a shampoo to use between steps of the haircut), believe them that they actually need a fragrance free one, not "this one that seems to be less scented".
YES! Just listen and believe we know what we need!
I'm so sorry. They wear us down to a nub with their BS. Sending hopeful thoughts re Trudhesa. π
Adriana Smith was the victim of misogynoir. An ER ignored her pleas for help, and she died of blood clots in her brain the next day.
The hospital then forced her body to be kept alive to try and save a 9 week old fetus.
Did you know that even if she had a DNR, it wouldn't have mattered?
Billionaires ruin EVERYTHING!
I missed my Twitter connections for so long, but haven't been able to get into a groove here the way I'd like to!
Don't date cops. This ish is a cautionary tale. And there are so many others that are even darker.
A gradient background of purple into coral with a small purple awareness ribbon on the right side. White text reads Offer Support Instead of Advice Send a text to check in. Offer practical help. Spend time with us in ways that we can handle. Send a thinking of you or other note of support via snail mail. @dianaelee. There are white stars scattered across the background.
A gradient background of purple into coral with a small purple awareness ribbon on the right side. White text reads Accommodate Us Offer adjustments to light and sound without us needing to ask. Offer use of a quiet, dark place to rest just in case we need it. Choose activities, venues, and restaurants with our needs and limitations in mind. Let us know you're ready and willing to help if we need anything when we're together. @dianaelee. There are white stars scattered across the background.
A gradient background of purple into coral with a small purple awareness ribbon on the right side. White text reads Believe Us One of the most important ways to support people with migraine is to simply believe us. Migraine is a stigmatized, misunderstood condition. Even people were close to doubt the truth of our experiences. They often assume we'd get better if we tried harder and believe we benefit from being ill. Set others straight when they talk about us and/or our disease. True allyship requires action. @dianaelee. There are white stars scattered across the background.

How to be an ally to people w/ migraine. #MHAM2025

A gradient background of purple into coral with a small purple awareness ribbon on the right side. White text reads Use Correct Terms Don't call migraine a headache. Because the disease is chronic, we call it migraine instead of migraines. We always live with it, not just when we have active symptoms. Say migraine attacks to refer to periods of active symptoms, instead of migraines. Don't call us sufferers. @dianaelee. There are white stars scattered across the background.
A gradient background of purple into coral with a small purple awareness ribbon on the right side. White text reads Educate Yourself Migraine is so much. more than head pain. Migraine is a genetically inherited neurological condition that impacts the entire body. Migraine symptoms and severity vary widely from person to person. Migraine is the most disabling disease in the world for people ages 15 to 50. There is no cure. @dianaelee. There are white stars scattered across the background.

Drop off a prepared meal. Pick up and/or drop off kids. Care for pets. Drive us to an appointment. Take notes for us at an appointment. @dianaelee. There are white stars scattered across the background.
June is Migraine & Headache Awareness Month, and my advocacy has been on fire! But not here. My brain is prone to fixation, so I've been posting to the other platform I use & kinda like (Insta). My fave advocacy content so far this month is how to be an ally to people w/ migraine. π #MHAM2025
Trying to manage my social media usage and finding it's all or nothing for me. I guess that's a function of how these platforms are designed and my personality. But I've missed the connections I have with awesome people here. Maybe I'll be around more???
Can you imagine if this Signal/Atlantic thing had happened a couple months into the Biden administration and Kamala Harris was part of the group chat? Republicans would be screaming for her to resign immediately. This is insane.
I have NorbRELIEF bulbs in lamps in our primary bedroom and family room, and I love them. I experience near daily attack symptoms and tremendous light sensitivity. These bulbs allow me to have light thatβs functional, but not painful.
Itβs so hard. Solidarity. π
Fascists benefit from an uninformed, unwell & divided population.
That's why community care is so important. Give to your local mask bloc, food bank, community fridge or free library.
Wear a mask, and if you can afford it, leave N95s IN the free libraries! People will happily take them!
Regular people lose our jobs for far, far less!
Me, when I'm judging people but owe people something.
The fact that the USA has banned visas for trans people but welcomed rapist Andrew Tate shows how all this "defending women" stuff is total bullshit
The project of learning (and unlearning) to manage my constantly on alert nervous system continues. Had second appointment with a new therapist this morning. I'm cautiously optimistic. Seems like a good fit for my needs. It's hard to trust when you've had bad experiences, but I'm glad I'm trying.
Agree! Absent any reflection on what she's learned, what is the point of the profile? People voting against everyone's well being then finding out they are in fact included among that everyone is not revelatory.
I know using alt-text for images isn't yet habit for a lot of refugees from Xitter. I get it. But ESPECIALLY when sharing anything related to political activism, please use it. Disabled people, including blind folks or those w/ low vision, are targets right now. They must be a part of your activism.
So youβre quite literally being held hostage. Sigh.
Thatβs so touchy. And part of how weβre held hostage. π
Call your R reps. If you have a regional accent, make the most of it. Tell them you didn't vote for CANCER and ask them what the hell they're gonna do to stop Musk and Trump. reps.fyi
Unfortunately I wasnβt able to tolerate Reglan. So many side effects. Zofran helps, but my GI stuff is a mess. Fingers crossed you have a better experience!
Scam patients like this often, Cleveland Clinic? This isnβt the opposite of migraine advocacy.
Gross.
Criminalizing masks makes public spaces less safe for disabled people. It pushes us further into the shadows
The powers that be donβt want us to be visible. They donβt want a reminder that Covid is still a threat
Wear a mask in solidarity. Tell the government that the vulnerable are not expendable
