I just looked at my travel record from 2010 and see that I flew back from a meeting on the East Coast then got in a car the next day to drive from LA to Jackson WY for a book tour that involved three national parks plus talks in Portland, Lick Observatory, and CSU San Luis Obispo. WTF?

During my most recent Covid-quarantine I decided to binge watch all the Mission impossible movies because I already hated my life. They get even worse after the first movie as everyone decides Tom is the most important part of the franchise and each movie must be more more more of him.
I was just in Antarctica and saw the Aitcho Islands on a map and wondered if they were supposed to be HO (but couldn’t figure out what that would be an acronym for). Now I know.
You are 100% correct. I am also willing to accept an asteroid.
Thanks! This series was originally commissioned by a planetary scientist for his home bar so I wanted it to appeal to someone who knew their science. I’m not familiar with the Futurama episode. I’ll have to check it out.
As a character in the Star Trek universe I now want my own entry in memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Portal:...
I don’t have a favorite dinosaur, but only because I love them all equally. Except for ankylosaurus: you know what you did.
Two of my Space Bar posters appeared in S2, ep7 of ST: Picard! They’re in an LA bar when the crew goes back in time to the early 21st Century. So I, the artist Tyler Nordgren, exist as a person in the Star Trek universe according to canon. #art #startrek #sciart www.tylernordgren.com/space-bar-po...
Except the ever-increasing size of trucks and cars (for no good reason) makes them death machines when they hit those of us on bikes.
It’ll be interesting see the change with the next launch. Will the utter lack of awe and humility go unnoticed?
2045 has some amazing locations! Better start saving up for that one-day entry ticket to the Magic Kingdom in Disney World.
These folks will always be cooler than a bunch of rich bros who who pay to be passengers on commercial flights.
Retro style poster in which one planet blocks the sun as seen from another icy world with volcanoes.
I did some math a few years back that there are other ways total solar eclipses could be possible in the solar system (between Galilean moons) and Galaxy (between planets in the Trappist 1 system).
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully you also got to experience a total solar eclipse for yourself.
Every time one of us has an accident around the house we remind each other that we love them so it mustn’t hurt. How was this show not booed off the stage?
My wife and I said all the WTFs when we first watched this musical. “It doesn’t hurt if you love him!”
As seen from Artemis 2, the Moon with an earthshine crescent eclipses the Sun, and four planets are visible to the lower right of the Lunar disk. These are Saturn, faint Neptune (which needs a pointer), Mars and Mercury
Here it is.👍🙂
medusaglare › Artemis I| 7h @ Threads i thought i stopped caring about space. turns out I was just sick of SpaceX, not NASA. • 18.3K Q145 G807ł → 143
Speaking of Threads, this one got me in the feels.
That sounds like an amazing program!
Are you an Artist in Residence for Xanterra? I’d love to hear more about the position and CD what you’ll be doing.
This is the coolest Earth photo I’ve ever seen. I love that it also includes aurorae over both poles, zodiacal light, stars and Venus. The window frame of the spacecraft makes you feel as if you are there.
We were just four people who happened to be much further south than the millions of others who took part that day.
Departing Ithaca NY for the Antarctic Peninsula. Both are visible in this sculpture outside the Ithaca airport. With luck, once there we will not get iced in for the winter, develop scurvy, and go mad in the darkness while our ship is slowly crushed by the ice.
Oh, I found out on my honeymoon that I get seasick. Like really seasick. But only for the first three days or so. This time I’ve got the scopolamine patches. Can’t wait to find out if they work on me.
My camera is all packed. Every time I’ve seen something new and amazing. I can’t wait to find out what it will be this time.
What a lovely memory. I love watching someone go through a lock. Usually I’m on my bicycle so I’ve never gotten to go through one myself.
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. It’s always nice to hear my art strikes a chord with someone.
All packed for a long trip to Antarctica beginning tomorrow. Three years ago I started working with Oceanwide Expedition to plan astronomy-themed trips to Antarctica. Last year we successfully saw the Aurora Australis. Now I’m bringing my own tour along to experience the awe. #sciart #art #astronomy
The official NYS report on last years’ Erie Canal Bicentennial just came out. I got a mention in it for my poster: 20,000 free copies were given out at libraries and visitor centers across the state. You can still download one for free. #art edge.sitecorecloud.io/newyorkpowe2...
