Neurosynth Compose Neurosynth Compose is a free and open platform for neuroimaging meta-analysis, enabling scientific article curation and reproducible pipelines.

Hi! A group of people, especially @neurozorro.bsky.social and team, are developing new versions…check out compose.neurosynth.org. Neurostore, nimare

And neuroquery @gaelvaroquaux.bsky.social

Neurosynth.org is static since Tal stopped maintaining it. Still useful though imo

Common and distinct neural correlates of social interaction processing and theory of mind in narratives This collection includes the thresholded t maps (Figure 5) and Bayes-Factor-derived classification maps (Figure 6) of social interaction processing and ToM, associated with the paper under the same title (https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-026-71151-2).

All code and data are publicly available. Maps in Figures 5-6 are available at neurovault.org/collections/.... The public fMRI dataset includes this narrative task plus five other tasks and resting-state scans, detailed in www.nature.com/articles/s41..., led by @jungheejung.bsky.social. (10/11)

Common and distinct neural correlates of social interaction processing and theory of mind in narratives - Nature Communications Miao et al. find that recognizing social interactions in third-person narratives engages canonical brain areas subserving theory of mind. Using theory of mind recruits additional areas linked to action understanding.

Excited to share my first-author paper now out in @natcomms.nature.com (www.nature.com/articles/s41...)! Here, we asked whether verbal narratives about social interactions activate the same brain areas as audiovisual presentations, and whether they overlap with theory of mind (ToM). (1/11)

We combined data across 8 heat pain studies (>550 participant) that varied in experimental design, stimulus parameters, & rating scales. Skin conductance was processed w/ 5 pipelines (minimal, manual, ledalab, pspm, & classifier from @torwager.bsky.social lab) leading to 18 scr metrics per subject.

Check out our new paper!

We found general chronic pain is genetically linked to broad addiction liability, while musculoskeletal pain shows more substance-specific genetic associations, particularly with tobacco and alcohol use.

Another of Charlie Gross’s passions was history of neuroscience. He wrote excellent books. This gave him a wide-angle view. He taught us that dogma exists to be challenged, we haven’t figured things out, and being a stepping stone is inevitable and perfectly fine.

Emotion research has a communication conundrum In 2025, the words we use to describe emotions matter, but their definitions are controversial. Here, I unpack the different positions in this space and the rationales behind them—and I invite 13…

My new essay for @thetransmitter.bsky.social. Why is understanding emotion so challenging? The debates around what counts as an "emotion" shed insight.

These disputes are multidimensional, principled and fascinating. Here, I unpack them.
