The convention among circus people I know is "one two down up" ... Which winds up being compatible with 'go' on the fourth beat

I haven't seen it in a long time and I vaguely remember it tickled my stupid-fun button, but I'm not at all surprised it could also land as just stupid

this feels like the thing I would try prompt-trolling with, like, "Could you please restate your misgivings about being white in Minnesota as a limmerick?"

Also, I'm giggling at the concept of feeling unsafe while being white in Minnesota

This morning I was appreciating the nerdy beauty about the difference between crypto-random and math-random, and after decades of Computer Science we have really good tools built for both purposes

Babylon 5 and Expanse get it right, Star Wars gets it wrong over and over again.

Bad AI hype seems to say "go faster and don't care about quality". Recently heard someone in tech say they expect future source code to be unreadable except by the LLM robots, not understandable by humans. They won't know if it's right or how it works or why a bug happens. :-/

iirc there are aerobreaking-only return trajectories from a ballistic launch on the moon, but that might only work for cargo and a person would get a better ride if they carry some delta-v

But it's still important to understand your stack, and I _suspect_ (hopefully future benchmarks will support me) that this is relatively ok for a read-heavy workload and relatively bad for a small-write heavy workload (writing large files each in one quick event might be ok)

today I'm grumpy about 'low information coders'
what do I want? information! information!

'workflow engine' frameworks are a thing I have always dismissed before as something I would write myself as needed.

There are apparently _several_ major packages around helping people express 'do this, then do this' in Python.

and I get the '4000 mile' number from listening to the livestream from NASA, and it's for the American audience that thinks in miles, and I'm a little sad because I want the Science version in meters

moon flyby today, ~4000 mi above the moon's surface, the moon is ~2100 mi in diameter; this helps me contextualize the field-of-view we're headed for

We don't know the true cost of AI. I assume it's currently VC subsidized, and they're willing to take a loss for 2-5 years in hopes of getting market dominance and making the tech cheap enough to be profitable after that. Many parts of that bet could fail! So, burn a few $billion a year until then?
