I think her posting is almost certainly being done by tuned in staffers, tbf.

I always thought that Mirri Maz Duur's prophecy was meant to foreshadow Daenerys going to Westeros by way of Asshai
To say nothing of how incredibly funny it is that among their seven MPs is a two-time Sex Party candidate.
When reading the coverage about the Narungga recount I figured that either their MP in Narungga or their party president are liable to split, bcoz the former was saying nonsense about electoral integrity being in question while the latter had a surprisingly reasonable "ECSA has a hard job" line
Little armband should be peeking off the shirt there.
If the VRA gets gutted I suspect you will see things like this pop up a lot more. Black politicians who are understandably wary of Black representation being gutted will defend their D+1 million seats even to the disadvantage of the party as a whole, because they're opportunity seats based on race.
The bit where he was just like, "yeah, I wanted to make money while watching Game of Thrones"… crazy stuff!
When you get the right feed it's golden, I've got 10% Australian stuff, 60% American politics, 30% transgender women posting drawings of lesbian fanart.
Recently I saw this headline that was like "people are telling AI to make a cartoon of them and are shocked by how much it knows!" and I don't mean to seem like a Luddite, I know this tech has a lot of adoption, but it might as well have been written in alien for how much I understood it.
An AI-generated 'cartoon style' (read: Studio Ghibli please don't sue) drawing of a woman with her hands on her (male) partner's head. Big text reads "Create a cartoon of us" (fuck you) with a round button with the Google Gemini symbol and the label "Try it out" (no) below.
Google Photos keeps giving me this notification and I can't stress how much I never ever want to see this odious little drawing again.
I think it's fair for writers to get aggrieved that people are judging them on clickbaity headlines that are often outside of their control but at the same time, if you think something is an unfair summary of your work surely you should be having a fairly stern talk with the subeditors.
I think identifying the target as "demonising trans people/attacking trans civil rights" rather than nebulous "they want to talk about bathrooms, isn't that crazy?" would do them better on this ground
Ah, ty
Is this reported in any media?
Where did you read this?
I've been watching it recently and it's sort of crazy how quickly the rot started to set in. These were not very smart people.
Hello Tiare
@kevinbonham.bsky.social May be of interest as I first read about this on your blog post.
Screenshot from the Internet Archive link of the Sex Party's Senate candidates in 2013. A man with glasses, scrangly facial hair, and buzzcuted black hair wears a v-neck shirt.
Screenshot of an ABC article from today. The same man with facial hair no less scrangly has a slightly more fancy hairdo that has been comed back, slightly nicer glasses, and a button-up plaid shirt.
One Nation's Jason Virgo was today confirmed as the new MP for MacKillop, but has a colourful political history, having previously stood for the Sex Party in 2010 and 2013. This link from the Internet Archive has a candidate photo all but confirming it: web.archive.org/web/20130908...
Given how One Nation did in SA honestly feel like she could transfer to the lower house and have a decent shot.
of from Quebec nationalists is very, one rule for me and one rule for thee. And it's obviously very easy for non-🇨🇦 Anglos to laugh at any law demanding people in govt positions speak French, even though I can imagine being alright with analogous hypotheticals. (English and te reo Māori, for example)
I say this as one very ignorant of Canada and Francophone Canada specifically, but is it not true that the laws in Quebec specifically preference French above English? It makes enough sense to me that you'd want to enforce bilingualism in a country of two halves, but a lot of the stuff I have heard
I read both of these and thought they were terribly interesting. I don't think Michael Ian Black's position here is coming from a place of hate or transphobia but rather thoughts about moral absolutism. You can argue it's a bit too ignorant, a bit too liberal, but I agree with him more than I don't.
Just finished working my way through Feast and really enjoyed it. Highlights for me were Jaime in Riverrun, the kingsmoot, and literally every Cersei chapter.
Labor obvs not blameless here, sprawl can't happen without government enabling and incentivising it, but the last decade of Labor government has also overseen massive upgrades in infrastructure in specifically the western suburbs. More can and should be done, but a good deal has been also.
ALP built/are building the Regional Rail Link and Melton/Footscray hospitals. I think the problem is less political and more structural -- infrastructure always lags behind development, places that were twenty years ago more or less country are becoming city. Problem is less neglect, more sprawl imo
Honestly it always makes me a bit uncomfortable. It's understandable but also dehumanising on a really massive scale -- if your opponents are inhuman pedos, what isn't justified against them? Seems to me too conceptual at best and conspiratorial at worst.
Even so if you were some Labor MP on the backbenches plotting you'd really hope for a more overwhelming swing than that if you wanted to move against Allan.
Was curious and did some searching myself, this article from Green Left in 2010 identifies the Jason Virgo who stood for Senate in 2010 as queer and surely a One Nation MP identifying under the LGBT+ umbrella would be a first. www.greenleft.org.au/2010/847/ana...
Did not know Jason Virgo was formerly of the Sex Party -- is this mentioned in any news coverage or did he stand for them previously?
