New preprint! Huge data collection feat from Morgan Barnes and analytic prowess from Thea Ng!
Perturbations of aperiodic activity following learning are reversed in nREM resetting the brain by morning. This reset predicts consolidation!

Hey #sleeppeeps - I’m in the northeast U.S. going to #worldsleep2025 in Singapore: give me your long-haul flight, 12 timezone sleep adaptation plan. Prescription or OTC meds? It’s going to be too cool to be a zombie!
New podcast alert!

Love my #textbookupdatingpeeps !❤️
#sleeppeeps check out this new meta-analysis which provides great guidance on spindle-slow oscillation measurement which has been highly variable across papers! This work was done in my lab @umass by Thea Ng, an undergraduate @MountHolyoke!

We’ve been using the Activinsight Genactivs for over a year. They’re great. We had a study with Fitbits and fits hitting the shan accessing that data now that Google took over!
Our lab has extended our work to infants. Here’s a piece I wrote describing our preliminary study that led to the current R01 work we’re doing. Check it out! childandfamilyblog.com/the-power-of... #infantsleep #sleepscience #babysleep #sleeppeeps

Will this
A. be a major shift in the review process or
B. reviewers will force-fit their biased ways into the new structure and nothing will change?
🤔
Yes, their examples were quite extreme!! Sheesh!
This is more conservative than I thought we should be. If NIH funded a dataset that is analyzed to answer something quite different than the grant scope, wouldn’t you still credit that grant? (E.g., If someone uses my actigraphy data to study physical activity) This would say no?
Is anyone looking for post-doc experience and pubs in sleep/circadian science and/or clinical psychology and/or implementation science? If so, please reach out! aharvey@berkeley.edu #impsci #sleep&circadian @ABCTNOW @PCSASNews
The older population would probably sleep better if reassured of a natural decline in sleep with age that may not all be linked to devastating consequences. We don’t actually know how much they need so to say it’s not enough is a bit of a lie. It’s the dirty little secret of the sleep field!
And tacos! 🌮 🍺
My absolute favorite day of the year! And the only thing we have to show for it is our brand spanking new BlueSky connection! (And a beer in my hotel fridge!) 🤷🏻♀️
