How do people experience environmental change in everyday life? A brief summary of our study on the drying out of Neusiedler Lake shows how local communities perceive and make sense of climate-related changes and we can learn from that. #expertise #climatechange @ifswien.bsky.social @univie.ac.at
Die Region zeigt Anpassungsbereitschaft durch nachhaltige Tourismuskonzepte, alternative Landwirtschaft und lokale Initiativen. Der langfristige Erfolg hängt von stärkerer Vernetzung und Zusammenarbeit aller Ebenen ab.
Einseitige, teils panische Medienberichterstattung und fehlende Kontextualisierung werden kritisch gesehen, ebenso wie unzureichende, kurzfristige Maßnahmen der Politik.
Zugleich offenbaren sich Interessenkonflikte zwischen den Zielsetzungen der unterschiedlichen Akteur*innen (Naturschutz, Wirtschaft, Politik, Zivilgesellschaft). Das gemeinsame Ziel des Seeschutzes verbindet sie jedoch.
Die Studie zeigt, dass die Bevölkerung die Klimaveränderungen unmittelbar im Alltag wahrnimmt. Sorge, Anpassungsstrategien und erfahrungsbasiertes Alltagswissen machen dies sichtbar.
Das Projekt untersucht, wie verschiedene lokale Akteur*innen die fortschreitende Austrocknung des Sees interpretieren und in ihren jeweiligen Wirkungsfeldern verhandeln.
Der Klimawandel manifestiert sich nicht nur global, sondern prägt auch lokale Lebensrealitäten auf spezifische Weise. Dieses Projekt fokussiert auf das Beispiel des Neusiedler Sees im Burgenland, Österreich.
