Paris incompleta.
Some for sale on the nursery, I'll add them to the website when they've grown a few more roots - if there are any left! These were potted in the autumn but I'd like them to be better established before they get bounced around in a box.

Luzula purpureosplendens pushing out the first flowers of the year (in a polytunnel). Stunning colour, clump forming and seems pretty hardy.

The joy of growing from seed and waiting years for flowers! Iris schachtii after 5 years of waiting - I think it was worth it.

Back on the nursery and a few things that caught my eye when picking mail orders:
Geranium peloponnesiacum x libani seedling
Moraea collina
Polygonatum 'Taiga'
None for sale yet I'm afraid!

Vinca difformis 'Ruby Baker' with plenty of flowers this year, a more muted shade in the evening shade, it's quite bright in the sun! Doing well under the big bamboo outside our potting shed barn.

Does anyone still have the real Dicentra 'Stuart Boothman'? This plant (lovely though it is) seems to have replaced it over the last 20 odd years and now suspect nobody realises it's an imposter.
The tall thing is much smaller, slow growing and has very fine cut leaves.

I can't decide whether the flowers or leaves are the more interesting feature of Asarum maculatum B&SWJ1114!
Been growing it since 1999 and still only have two small clumps...

A new one for us, flowering well for the first time: Epimedium 'Winters End'. I think it's a yellow that people who don't like yellow Epimedium might like!

Narcissus 'White Lady' bowed under a heavy dew. These older, elegant types look great in between the cut back grasses and herbaceous perennials.
#gardening ๐ฟ
Epimedium pubescens hybrid from Washfield many years ago. Still not got a name as far as I know and it's still not made up very much.
Those new leaves though! And the clouds of tiny white flowers.

For those who like weird plants and brown flowers! Asarum caulescens. Semi-evergreen woodlander that really wants to be somewhere cooler and damper than Norfolk...
#gardening ๐ฟ
Erythronium tuolumnense stock plants probably the best they've ever been.
#gardening ๐ฟ
New growth on Heuchera americana 'Harry Hay' looking lush - admittedly in a polytunnel but the plants outside won't be far behind! Looking forward to the flowers already....

Vinca sardoa (Vinca difformis ssp sardoa if you prefer) flowering its socks off at the moment. Big flowers produced from November to late spring, and all summer if it doesn't dry out. Yes it spreads but can be controlled without too much bother.

I still find it amazing that I can take the dog for a short walk from my house and see wild Daphne growing in the woods. It flowered weeks ago and now has lots of berries forming.
Muntjac are reducing numbers though...
Primula 'David Valentine' finally getting going this spring. As always the phone camera can't cope with the magenta!
A lovely neat hybrid primrose.

About to be cut back but I thought it worth showing that Themeda triandra ssp japonica is still standing well with intact seedheads. A sunnier day would have shown the warm colour better!

Two year old pot of Narcissus 'Rapture' not as upright as it ought to be but looking lovely anyway!

It looks like we are starting to work out how to grow Anemone pavonina, or at least the purple ones! Just one deep red. All our cream, bright red and salmon pink plants seem to have gone...
Next year!
#gardening ๐ฟ
Anemone x lipsiensis 'Sioux' making a start.
#gardening ๐ฟ
Roots! Pretty impressive root systems on these Stachys recta seedlings. Sown about a year ago.

A new wood anemone in the collection flowers for the first time this year: Anemone x lipsiensis 'Stiby'.
Thanks David ๐

Fritillaria thunbergii with just a few flowers this year having rescued it from our display garden in the autumn. Often sold as F. verticillata but this has tendril like leaf tips.
#gardening ๐ฟ
Erythronium tuolumnense doing fairly well here in the shade stock tunnel. Sales plants all munched by muntjac....
Next year!
#gardening ๐ฟ
Pulmonaria 'Blue Ensign' has been out for weeks and still looking good even though the first flowers are over. It's one of those reliable survivors that always performs.
#gardening ๐ฟ
Trillium chloropetalum seedlings return for their second year. We'll pot these up this autumn and grow them on for another couple of years before they start to flower...
#gardening ๐ฟ
Narcissus 'Elka' and ?'Rapture' make a nice pair and are doing well in pots for their third season. We never got round to repotting them last year but it didn't seem to have done any harm in our peatfree compost.
#gardening ๐ฟ
Not a view you get every day - Arisarum proboscideum. As part of our big clean, every plant is checked over and it gives us a chance to see things like the flower buds still below ground on these.
Good fat potfuls in 100% peatfree compost.

Arum creticum 'Marmaris White' looking stunning in yesterday's sun in our bulb frame. The scent almost overpowering in the warm temperature it's not unpleasant!
