Israeli army says photo of soldier damaging Jesus statue is authentic
Last thought and then I'm gonna (literally) go touch some grass: it seems very understandable that people who feel ignored and powerless within a system being told that they are the ones responsible for all the evils from it would be infuriating, frustrating, and further drive them away
Which is incredibly fucking frustrating given the urgency in the moment, but here we are.
At this point what I pray for, what I think is the frustrating but necessary first step, is for people on both sides to just block each other if attacked and touch grass if they feel the urge to post things that will be seen (maybe unfairly) as attacks.
The path to deescalation starts w/ distance.
"Anthro" seems p relevant when so much of what util these things do have is from so much of the world being reshaped for humans
To your point about convincing liberals to vote further left, I think that falls into a pattern of not incorporating power differentials in discussing issues. even if I wish leftists would also better strive to meet liberals where they're at, when I've tried I've just been called stupid and blocked.
There's absolutely an us vs them pattern on bsky that makes me want to stop using it* where things said on one side are attributed to everyone on that side. Paired with malicious misinterpretation and poor hyperbole handling, it's working against all of us
*using it again. took a year off, new acct
Sorry, that was a dump of things I've wanted to yell for a long time.
I've now had multiple conversations pre- and post-election where liberals said explicitly that they chose to attack because those they yelled at were beyond convincing and it was cathartic
Which sounds a lot like choosing an action that worked against their stated intentions because it felt better.
Now we see Booker here and numerous other liberals framing Harris losing as entirely caused by that refusal. Even if that divide's absence would have resulted in a win, that doesn't mean other issues don't exist which could have done the same, and some of Harris' campaign decisions seem relevant
That view on vote morality is pretty understandable w/ American cultural understanding and messaging about representative democracy. When the issue is the deepest of moral issues, those folks will absolutely never be convinced otherwise by being attacked and also told "but they're not *all* bad"
My vote is based on harm reduction, but my frustration pre-election was primarily with those arguing for that. There was a marked refusal to meet those who saw a vote as a moral endorsement where they were at which booker continues here by calling genocide 10%. Instead they were just called stupid.

If they manage to kill unilateral divorce again some shitty men's lives are going to get toxic in a very literal way.
I have a mental self harm habit of horror-reading major right wing news articles and "this would be hilarious if so many people didn't take it deathly seriously" is just about every one
Nah, I'm not one to project negative tones ๐
They blame the absence of fathers for just about every problem, you'd think two dads would be a *good* thing.

Was an interesting read and I appreciate the openness. I do think it's worth bringing up that despite being negative in nature, what you describe is a *positive* feedback loop. The output of the loop adds to the effect rather than reduces it.
"Comfortable" is maybe not the right word there, I mean more like relaxed cognitively? Just Vibing? Know what I mean?
Everyone knows parents have the exact same level of control of their kids as a driver has of their vehicle ๐
Everyone knows with greater power comes less responsibility ๐๐

I had a few seizures as a teen and couldn't get a license till my mid 30's. A result is being an incredibly safe driver according to friends because I learned to navigate streets on my bike and if I'm behind the wheel I'm on high alert.
Comfortable drivers terrify me.
i feel like there's a decent javascript "women == men but also women !== men" joke in there somewhere
