I'm doing copy-edits now (for two different books!) and whenever I get to one of those (sadly correct) notes that identifies a timeline issue or a plothole, I'm basically like

"Well, I guess I'll delete the book now and walk into the woods."

This is one of the more frustrating things about live games, among many — they’ve recalibrated player expectations toward an endless drip feed such that a complete, kickass, regular game gets incorrect or even toxic feedback.

Not every game is meant to be your job!

Even in novels, many of the best parts of my work aren't imagined in the outline. They emerge on the page as I get to know the characters and figure out better ways to realize the plot.

Plans are good, but total adherence suffocates.
