Wakefield is a disgraced British former physician who created the fraudulent study that suggested that vaccines cause autism. It was his research that folks like Jenny McCarthy took and spread. So he started the fire and Jenny McCarthy poured gasoline on it.

Two adjacent posts in my feed Dave Levitan (32 seconds ago): This place rn feels like the day after the NYT includes your east village dive in "best bars in the city" or something Molly Jong-Fast (6 hours ago): I just talked about how great Bluesky is on MSNBC
Excellent juxtaposition here (made even better by the fact that I was met with the error NotEnoughResources when I tried to post 😆)

"I voted today" sticker in red, white, and blue stripes with stars
I usually like to vote on election day, but didn't want to risk it this year. I tried to vote early last Saturday and Thursday, but the lines were longer than I had time for. Today I lined up at 9:30, voting opened at 10, and was done by 10:40. Thankful for the volunteers who made it run smoothly!
So glad to see you here! I really valued your viewpoint on Twitter back in the day and was sad when you (understandably) left there. Hope you find things to be better here 🤞

I made an account over a year ago but never really migrated...but that other place has become a parody of itself and a train wreck I finally don't want to watch anymore (well, once we get past the election, still checking there until then). Grateful for all the cool starter packs here now!
I've tried twice to get it for my 9-year-old, both times we showed up (for a scheduled appointment, where we had to provide his DOB when signing up) and they told us they didn't have the right doses for under-12-year-olds. I can't believe how hard it is to get this!
Job alert! I am seeking a 50%-time project manager for a new NSF-funded project on how simple card games can promote learning about biological variability--with a focus on relational language & gesture in caregiver-child interaction during play. More info: jobs.wisc.edu/jobs/researc...

Grateful to everyone who uses the same profile picture they had on the other place so I didn't have to think too hard about who to start following here
