little handwoven bookmark done. :> natural-colored handspun shetland wool and avocado-dyed commercial wool (that clay colored yarn), with yellow linen warp thread
she keeps trying to lay on them like theyโre her eggs

a woven bookmark being made on a frame loom
closeup of the yarns being used - there are four colors of handspun shetland wool (two grays, a brown, and a black), and a commercial-spun weaving yarn dyed a pinkish clay color. the slightly darker gray is actually dyed with black hollyhock but it came out so pale that i feel like itโs not worth mentioning lmao. the wool was originally cream and it was supposed to come out a DARK blue-gray
a lopsided uneven heddle cut out of cardboard <3
neck has been too messed up to carve so iโm weaving a little bookmark today. using natural-colored handspun and plant-dyed yarn (the clay color is avocado pits & peels) and i carved that wooden needle from driftwood. cut a sloppy little heddle out of cardboard to make swapping sheds faster!
I have chronic pain related to working, mostly in my arms/wrists & neck, so I can only carve for a short while daily, usually abt an hour on good days. If iโm already sore I donโt work that day. I work at a drafting table to be more upright & use a silicone mat so stop the block from slipping around
Ergonomics!! I have a cork attached to my most used tool so i can change my grip on it often while carving - alternating between a pen-like grip and more traditional block-carving grip. Also using a very soft medium like the pink speedball rubber makes a big difference for reducing fatigue
every time i see these fuckers at it like this i get so jealous. itโs got to feel amazing to crunch straight through wood like that. and i bet cambium tastes amazing

a closeup of a camas inflorescence with a honeybee buzzing toward it. the inflorescence is a spike-like cluster with star-shaped blueish purple flowers with bright yellow anthers seeming to float like little golden sparkles around the flowers

a hand holding a linocut print of a poppy plant, printed in black ink with watercolor coloring
poppies prints hanging on a line with clothespins
little test for watercolor hand-tinted prints is nice but I rly think iโd enjoy the color more with a colored print ink, maybe dark sepia.. so iโll save that for another edition in the future! this batch will stay black & white
