Someday, inevitably, players who value creativity over “staples” and “optimization” will generate a new format that catches fire. (None generated so far have quite done it.) The whole point of Commander has been lost, perhaps for good, because that’s what popularity does to creativity.

She remains one of the most important voices out there. The godfather Sheldon said many times that if there were ever to be an official rating system, it should be based on win turn (or “big play” turn, if it was a lockdown or whatever deck).

Wizards is not handling the format properly.

K I’m about to pick an app to start documenting my 200+ commander decks and (maybe) the rest of my collection. After initial research I think I’m down to Delver Lab, Dragonshield, and Archidekt. Anyone want to share recs/relevant experience?

I continue to believe that they made such a strange, bad turn by pulling the rug out from under brawl one year after starting the format. Will never make sense to me what they did.

As someone who both plays a few UB decks and also is super tired of UB, I believe it’s important not to yuck another player’s yum. I aim my ire at the unimaginative WotC execs who run the show.

Gentle counterpoint: we should not call them “bad” cards. Much of what people say bothers them about Commander nowadays traces back to a corruption of the original point. There should be no staples, no metagame, no surprise when a creature like this shows up. Peace and thanks for all you do. :)

Also Tumblerless. Mark, I tried to like it but was disappointed in several ways. First, I know your area hates hearing this - foils back to curling hard. Made me skip the most recent set altogether. There are other reasons but meh. WotC mgt seems more and more like they don’t care. Why should I?

I’d love to. I didn’t even know about it until a few days beforehand. By then I had family plans. Will try to be more Magicky next year. :)

I am not. They have been abusing the trust of their most invested customers for a decade now. The foils still curl horribly, the set pace is too high, and the application of UB is inconsistent. This is the first set since 1998 where I will buy NO product. Looks like others agree. Peace friend. :)
